Beyond Reality(Review)

Beyond reality is what you get when you make a shitty European mystical version of the Oceans series, and then shove Antonio Banderas into the cast, to make it seem a lot less horrible. I can't tell whether it was the acting or the plot that made my balls itch but I know everything about the movie screams cliche bullshit. Antonio Banderas plays the father of the protagonist, who is actually behind the initial screw up that got his son into the mess in the first place.

The movie focuses on some con artist that spent 3 months planning a 5 million Euro heist of a casino, only to get swindled at the end of the day by some shaman type dude in a suit at the end of the scam. Then he gets caught, receives a few punches from the owner of the casino who typically gives him one week to refund all the money that the scam cost him.

After the first ten minutes, I was pretty certain I wanted to gouge my eyes out but I kept on watching because after spending the time to download it, I really wanted to know how it would end.

There were so many things wrong with this movie; the low budget car chase, that fucking sound thingy that echoed, the shitty and unrealistic acting, and just about everything else sucked.

I have seen some shitty movies in my day and this one comes close to the top of the list. I don't know if it is because of the horrible sound thingy they used for the voice of the protagonist that made it seem like he was in a toilet or maybe it is the fact that the movie just doesn't make sense.

I still don't understand how a movie can have this many plotholes and still be released for public consumption. The protagonist, Michael(played Miloš Biković) had the important task of dramatically taking off his glasses, licking his lips and doing everything possible to seem like George Clooney. There's really not much to say about the supporting cast other than there was one dude that controlled electricity, a hypnotist, telekinetic ability and a mind reader/controller.

Perhaps it isn't supposed to make sense and I'm putting too much thought into it but what the fuck were they thinking? For all the wrongs, and there were a lot, I can say that at least the movie had a nice plot that perhaps would have done a lot better if it were properly funded. The idea of using a bunch of super-powered yellow bellies to do a Casino heists and whatnot is a nice idea, sadly the execution was horrible.

It was a terrible movie virtually from start to finish and this is one of those situations where you have a wasted plot. It is 110 minutes of my life that I can never get back, and will take alcohol therapy to recover from. All I want to say is that if this is what it takes to get superpowers then I don't want none of that and I'm just happy I survived the entire ordeal movie.

Rating: 1/5, I highly recommend you watch paint dry instead.
