The town of Waterval Boven is a popular destination for sports climbers from around the world.

I had the opportunity to visit this beautiful town on a few occasions to do some climbing with friends.

Waterval Boven means "above the waterfall" in Dutch and this is one of the beautiful waterfalls on the Elands River.

Assisting a climber is called belaying and your job is keep the tension on the rope so that if a climber falls he only falls a short distance.

My turn to climb!

Some parts are easy and some get really tricky.

It's hard to express in words the feeling you get when you reach the top, you really feel like you can accomplish anything.

After a good day's workout, it's time for a braai (barbeque).
