The Courtyard of the Maidens in the Real Alcazar of Seville, Spain provides a wonderful example of Mudejar design as well as medieval air conditioning. The green of the grass and trees and the blue of the water accent the Moorish arches, tiles, and intricate masonry.
A shaded area with running water creates effective climate control for the Spanish heat. We visited on a hot day and the courtyard was quite cool and refreshing.
