Power Corrupts?

Have you noticed how the real extremists like Netanyahu, Duterte in his day Chavez and Evo, and Xi, Kim, and I bet this will also be the case with Putin,Bolsonaro and Trump, also of course Juan Orlando Hernandez the president of Honduras do so much to be able to cling onto power so insistently? And to be honest all of them exhibit the same progress, well except in China and North Korea where this is now perfected, first they absorb the Congress or Parliament of their country making sure the legislative branch is in their power, then they go for the judiciary and even before this they have already bribed the armed forces with outright money given to the heads or by increasing the military's budget.

Of course then the budgets of the really important things that the government is supposed to look after like health and education are reduced with the outcome that these two areas are not ready to do the job they should, this is very clear with the onslaught of Coronavirus, the money to fight the virus is just not there so they depend on foreign aid or increasing their foreign debt. Additionally these countries are the most corrupt in the world, the leaders do not even think that power will be taken from them.

When elections are held in these countries the incumbent readily wins because they are also the masters of voter fraud, I know this is true because I am living it, the guy who is president has stolen two elections and under the constitution of Honduras he could not even run the second time but since he owns both legislative and judicial powers he gets to do as he pleases. Any voices that rise to challenge them are quickly silenced.

Of course this just lasts until the majority gets completely tired of this and kicks them out, many times these uprisings result in the death of many supporters of the regime ex. Romania. But in the meantime these dictators and their close followers have stolen the treasury so much that any new government has to plead for help thus the country falls into even greater debt. Trump seems to be moving that way, I hear people say that is not possible in the US, but just twelve years ago people in my country were saying a coup was impossible here.

Maybe I am naive but I don't see why anybody should be in power for more than two years, they can't set his people up to steal much, they probably won't make pacts with anyone and they probably won't be getting any megalomaniac ideas in such a short time. When a person or an institution gets it into their head that they are completely irreplaceable it gets real bad. This is what is happening now in the US with the police, they were given too much power and now they think they are more important than the people they are supposed to serve. The police, the army and the government are just employees of the people so they should be answering to the people not some self proclaimed messiah. And yes two years and you are out no more government jobs for you either as an employee or as an elected official.

I can give you an example, here they say they spent over 15 million US$ on two mobile hospitals, which when all was said and done were equipped with used and in some cases non working machines, and now many people in the know say that with that money they would have bought the seven hospitals not two. Another example is in a town called Olanchito they need a COVID wing, as the government never helped they asked citizens and businesses in the town and town people living abroad for help, well it seems they have enough money to build the COVID wing now and it will cost them a little over $100,000.00, but the government now says they built it (a lie because it isn't even built yet) and that they spent nearly 2,000,000.00 US$ on it.

So you see it is clear that these type of governments will do and say anything to have people dominated, luckily with the social networks one gets to at least hear the other side of the story, so I can bet you these two million dollars are already stolen. Despite this this government and many others in the world still manage to have followers, and I am OK with someone being a follower if you gain something for it, at least you are improving yourself. But in the majority of cases the people who follow these dictators follow them because they are actually kind of dumb and I fear masochists, the more they are screwed the more they like it.
