This portrait has been appearing at the beginning of all my social networks and the truth is that I have always liked everything that this work reflects, it is a painting by the artist Alexander Cabanel in which he portrayed the fall of the angel Lucifer after being expelled from heaven and he, with hatred and resentment, cries, another story tells that God, seeing that the kingdom of darkness had no one to rule it, God sent his most faithful angel to maintain balance and he cries because the human beings thinks that he is bad.
I have wanted to draw this portrait since I saw it a while ago, but I felt that it was not yet at an acceptable level to achieve a good job, I feel that I still have a long way to go to transmit the same as the original painting, but I could not wait more to draw it.
Lucifer, the fallen Angel.
Process of drawing the most beautiful angel
- Quick sketch with my mechanical pencil to outline the whole portrait before applying shadows and light, here I already mark with the mechanical pencil where the shadows in the eyes are.
- With the charcoal powder added the shadows on the forehead and part of his right eye to give volume to his face.
- Here the right eye is more detailed and all the features of his face are highlighted, all this was done with charcoal.
- Almost finished, in this point I draw his hair, also with charcoal and made his face a bit more delicate and fade more the shadows on his forehead
- Finished drawing of lucifer, his arm was drawn also with charcoal and faded it with a cotton ball and gave the light reflects with a eraser.
- Reference photography
The expression in his eyes could tell he is a stranger in the wonder world he just arrived.
Nice drawing from you. You really tried to recreate that of Alexander work.
Bravo👍🙄
