I join again the initiative of 100 days of steem, which presents us @steemitblog, this time a challenge in which he asks us to talk about our favorite film. For more information here 100 DAYS OF STEEM: Day 11 - Weekly Writing Challenge # 2
Probably for many it is not a very easy task, since they have seen so many that they have liked it, that they find it hard to decide which one to talk about and catalogue it as their favourite film. For me the case is different, I have always been a lover of cinema, good cinema, and although I have seen many good films if I have a favorite and for a long time, and this is it:
The Silence of the Lambs, also known as the Silence of the Innocents.
Yes, it's a bit of a bloody film, and nowadays there are great special effects that are used in many, this one I like is basically good acting, and that's what I like. I've always had a penchant for the performing arts, and there's no doubt that the representation of the characters by the actors is simply masterful.
This film is about the search for a serial killer who is called Buffalo Bil. He uses the skin of his victims to make suits, all of them teenagers.
In order to catch him, the FBI uses a prominent student expert in psychopathic behavior, who wants to get into the FBI. He tests her by sending her to a maximum security prison where a psychiatrist, with an above-average intelligence, is found, who is in that situation of incarceration for being a murderer and eating his victims. The idea is that this agent, Clarice Starling, played by Jodie Foster will convince the cannibalistic killer, Hannibal Lecter played by Anthony Hopkins, to help her discover Buffalo Bill's pattern of behavior in order to catch him.
Here's a video of one of the main scenes from that movie, the first encounter between the detective and the cannibal:
And there the film goes, with an air of mystery, psychological suspension, as it was called at the time, also terror, simply in 1991, when it was released it broke the box office records. In fact it is the second film in the horror genre that has been nominated, the first was the exorcist, and the first Oscar winner for best film, besides winning 4 more awards, including best director, best actor, actress and best adapted script. In addition to other awards of global importance in the film industry. It was the third film in the history of the Academy Awards to win all 5 top awards. I mean, a phenomenon.
Perhaps it has influenced me a lot, and has impacted in such a way, because I was only nine years old when I saw it for the first time, in the year of its premiere, later I saw it again, I don't know how many times, that is the film that I don't get tired of seeing, it has also called my attention a lot about psychiatry, because of the study of the mind, and in this film that is evident in the character of Hannibal Lecter, a medical psychiatrist.
Writing about this film has made me think about seeing it again, and I'm going to do it. I don't have a count of the times I've seen it, but there have been many. After this film, they made two more, as a sequel, but none of them topped the first one, by any means. Sure, I saw them, and I liked them, but not as much as Silence of the Lambs. The lead actor, Anthony Hopkins, is one of my favorite actors.
Much more could be said about this movie, but for now, I conclude with my participation in this challenge.
I invite you to visit Project.hope and learn about the benefits of this project for all those interested in growing while helping others to grow.
