What does Hive Mean to Me?

In response to @theycallmedan's What Does Hive Mean to Me initiative, here's my take on the cake.

To be frank, it's been so long that I've lost my faith in Steem. It's even before Justin's acquisition of Steemit Inc., even prior to Ned laying of 70% of its employees. It's when I found out that Steem for me will never rule because of undocumented ninjamine stakes. From smaller to bigger account holdings, I've completely lost hope to see Steem moon. It was mid-2018 when I think Steem can't be a top token.

Not to mention @ned's incompetence, I was part of the people who invested more on Steem at a very high price - not so painful because it was only part of my earnings though. But imagine how well off am I today if I was able to sell them at $8 a piece? No, because I was trapped into the idea that Steem will become a hundred dollar coin soon. But no, Steem just ride bitcoin's dominance in the market. When bitcoin's price was slowly declining, it was also a decline of Steem. It was also the time when I realized what I needed to do and continuously lost hope because people loved delegating more than curating that time. Steem has lost its power - manual curation from the community.

What Is Hive to Me?

Hive for me stands one big thing - HOPE. The hope to bring back the wasted talent Steem has squandered before. It brings hope for me that for users who can't afford to invest has a place in this platform. That by putting our best to create valuable content are appreciated. That curation is alive again even more than before. I hope that this place becomes an avenue for people may it be artists, bloggers, influencers, professionals, or just normal people like me. This is on hive.blog's perspective.

I foresee that Hive will become one of the top blockchains to empower decentralized applications. Steem has been and has set a mark of powerful Dapps that has lots of userbase. But with Hive, I foresee that there will be lots of developers flocking on Steem to deliver their product. There's lots of reasons, but I think the best reasons why I foresee a lot will be flocking is because of the technology of Hive (3-second transaction time, fee-less, and blockchain recorded activity), Hive DAO (where they seek for funding), and the strong community we have here.

What I Want to See Hive will Evolve To

For me, it will be a big success if Hive can host the "Smart Media Tokens" Steem has promised us for almost 3 years now that has never been delivered. I don't fucking know what its status now but I'm pretty sure SMTs will be difficult to be delivered since its main developers have already resigned.

If Hive can deliver that aspect, what ever they call it Hive Media Tokens or whatsoever. That will be a game changer. So businesses will flocking here and massive opportunities will come to us. I think that will be a driving force to deliver Hive to the masses. So we'll start getting attention to a much wider audience.

What do you think about having a large funded DAO for future HIVE development?

That'll be great to see and I'm confident that promises will be delivered since there's not incompetent leader to rely on and there's no central authority owning those tokens. The best projects will be delivered with the autonomous support of the community. So we now have ample budget for branding, design, and marketing. That will also be used to support gatherings (like Hivefest) or to be used to fund advertisements on social media / television / radio / etc.

Advertisement funding approved by the community is super awesome. Damn, that's so cool. We can do that now, without relying on someone. If the largest stakeholders like it, that will likely become realized. In short, anything can be achievable as of this moment. What a great time to be alive!

What does HIVE mean to you?

Hive for me means a chance to correct the mistakes, we've learned a lot from Steem and we're bringing that to Hive. It's a renewed opportunity for everyone of us to do a better version of what we've done with Steem. I'm just feeling alive again, honestly and this whole damn thing is getting into my nerves.

I'll be regularly active again, I'm not sure I am that helpful though but I'm one of the users who will add activity on this blockchain. It's been a couple of months of only reading because of unrewarded efforts but I hope this time, it will turnout to be a good experience for me. I'm excited to participate with the apps created here and initiatives like this.

Thanks a lot for putting this initiative @theycallmedan. You're the man, superman!

Good analysis, but I would like to ask you something, if Steemit and Steem were already on a downward spiral before Justin Sun, what makes you think, with the same people at the helm, things will be different on Hive?

I think things will be better this time than Steem, that's what I see. The ninja-mine stake was one of the main reasons why Steem hasn't had many investors pulling in for Steem. No more central entity handling the site and technically dragged out an incompetent leader.
