What is the effect of coronavirus on the banking sector? Just some weeks ago, Access bank announced the closure of some of it branches in Nigeria. I have account number with the bank, here in kwara state Ilorin. Access bank have like 3 to 4 branches. But now it has close down one branch in a very busy area where people easily have access to. Now guess what people who have account number with all these branches now move to the main branch which have caused uneasiness on the part of the people who have account with the bank with so much stress.
Also, with another effect of the pandemic some people who are employees have became unemployed. As we read, 75% of their workers have been sacked all over Nigeria which has really made Access bank to shut down some branches across the country. This action has made people who have account with them to find it very tedious to run their account on daily basis.
To my own conclusion, my prayer is that I shouldn't have anything to do in the banking because I cant imagine going to the bank and fix issues. Right now we have road side POS business, what you have to do is lay conveniency fee. Even going to the bank has made some people restless hanging around the banking premises. I pray that the health sectors find solution to this virus sooner rather than later.
