Today I'm sharing a post about the witness. Some people don't even know complete detail about the witnesses. This post is all about what a STEEM Witness is, how to become Witness, Witnesses dispute with Justin Sun.

What is a witness?

A witness plays a crucial part in how the STEEM network functions. Witnesses serve the role of validating signatures and timestamping transactions by including them in blocks. A block is any group of transactions (posts, votes, transfers,resteem, etc) that update the state of the database in the steem blockchain. Witnesses don't do this for free every time they produce a block they are paid.

A STEEM witness is a person who operates a witness server (which produces blocks) and publishes a price feed of STEEM/USD to the network.

Witnesses are generally expected to manage a reliable block producing node, execute a failover framework, keep up an open seed hub, tune blockchain working parameters, however since Steem is an understand blockchain we have treas in order to keep the uprightness of the system.

Who can become a STEEM Witness?

Anyone who is willing to contribute to the Blockchain may become a Witness however they must be elected through votes made by the Steemit Community. Steem community decide to select the witnesses by voting them. Witnesses, so they are generally some of the most trusted members of the community who are tech-savvy and have the determination to keep the Blockchain secure.

Who elects STEEM Witnesses

Every Steem User can vote for up to 30 witnesses and elect them. As a Steem user who wants to see this platform continue to grow and flourish, we all have 30 votes to cast for any Steem witness of our choice and I will say this is the most important 30 votes you will ever cast on this platform.Why should I care to vote for witnesses? A witness is paid proportionally to how high they are in the witness ranks, excluding the top 20 witnesses. These witnesses are expected to keep a node running every second of every day. Most of Steem Witnesses actively engage in the Steemit Community, a reason why many users have upvoted them.

Recent Steem Witness Dispute

In these three years, I learned a lot about cryptocurrencies and decentralized platforms but now recently everyone knows that the Ned sold the Steemit Inc to Justin sun who is the owner of the Tron cryptocurrency. At that time I was happy that the steem is now in the hand of a person who knows how to defend what is yours. He was not like the ned who don't even speak about the steem a bit and most of the new users don't know who is the owner of the steem until he sold Steemit Inc Justin sun.
According to the Old, Witness Justin tries to occupy the steem by creating new fake witnesses and try to replace the community witnesses just for some soft fork. Community witnesses try very hard to get there position back in witnesses category and they achieved their position with the help of community but they know that now steem is not a decentralized platform anymore. According to the old witnesses, the steem blockchain is not a centralized platform and they don't want to here anymore and they left steem blockchain and created a new blockchain called as Hive blockchain.

Old Witness left steem blockchain

There is happening quite a lot at the moment on steem Blockchain and it seems that the community is divided into two groups trying to achieve somehow the same goal but with different approaches. The old witnesses left the steem blockchain and created a new Hive blockchain a copy of the steem blockchain.
