Hello steemians,
How are you all doing? Today we visited a Japanese place called "Sachi" which translates to "child of joy". Sachi's concept is born out of the owner's love for the Japanese culture and their food. He opened Sachi to share his love for Japanese comfort food and let locals immerse in a unique dining experience without having to go to Japan.
Sachi is located at **BF Mactan Strip right along the ML Quezon National Highway in Pusok Lapu-Lapu City, Philippines which is about 25 minutes drive from our place. They're open at 10:00 am - 2:00 pm for lunch and 5:00 pm - 9 pm for dinner.
THE EXPERIENCE
We arrived at Sachi 5 minutes before 12, we were the only customers at that time but the restaurant quickly filled up right after 12. Upon entering, we filled-up a contact tracing form and had to sanitise our hands as part of the new normal.
We were greeted by one of their lovely staff Ella and guided us to their best table. She then took our orders and patiently answered all our questions about the menu. She was very attentive and professional which made our dining experience enjoyable and pleasant.
THE INTERIOR AND AMBIANCE
The place was immaculate and vibrant although their seating capacity was reduced to only 18 covers to allow social distancing inside the place as part of the Covid 19 health protocols. The place has black and red accents and some woodworks. It's well lit with natural light and traditional Japanese lanterns which provides a nice contrast to the dark paint of the space. The interior is a mix of modern and traditional Japanese elements which is fitting for their menu.
Another interesting thing is that the staff greets in Japanese which gives you a feel of Japanese hospitality. As the place filled up with people ready for lunch, the place became more energetic and "Sachi" or "blissful" and I guess that's what the whole concept is about, a nice place where people who love Japanese food can commune and share their love for the food and culture of Japan.
THE MENU
The menu is composed of well-known Japanese crowd favorite dishes. They offer Ramen, Okonomiyaki, Takoyaki, Rice toppings or Dons, Japanese Curry, Yakisoba, and some popular Japanese small items such as Karaage, edamame, and gyoza. Items on the menu are all familiar and they offer a good number of items that you can choose from.
THE PRICE
As for the price, for the quality of food they send out the kitchen I'd say they are reasonable. It's not as expensive as their competitors here in Cebu but the quality is not compromised at all. I would even say some of their items are cheap in terms of the price. We ordered three menu items and we paid less than 800.00 pesos or less than *16.00 usd." That's a good deal.
THE FOOD
Finally, let's talk about the food. We ordered a bowl of *Miso Ramen, a plate of Yakisoba, and a side of Gyoza."
Miso Ramen which originates from Hokkaido Japan is known because of their distinct addition of sweet corn and butter to their Ramen. Often, you will literally find a stick of butter on a Miso Ramen in Hokkaido as the region goes through long cold winters so adding butter to one of their staple food just makes sense. Sachi's Miso ramen did not have a stick of butter because Philippines is a tropical country and we don't go through long harsh winters like in Hokkaido but their interpretation of the dish is perfect for the climate and the palate of the Filipino people. The miso broth was hearty, the noodles were cooked perfectly, the corn was fresh, and you can taste a little bit of butter in there. 9/10
The second item was the Yakisoba which translates to stir-fried noodles. This was my least favorite as I find the dish a bit too tangy for my liking. 5/10
Then we also ordered Japanese dumplings or Gyoza. Also known as potstickers, gyoza is originally a Chinese dish but I find the the Japanese version more tasty and juicy. Sachi's gyoza was everything you can ask for. They presented it beautifully with a crispy gyoza tuille or lace and the flavors were spot on. You can taste the seasonings really well and the cabbage to meat ratio was perfect. It was juicy and the bottom was perfectly crispy and golden. 10/10
Overall, Sachi is a place I would recommend. I'd gladly bring my friends and family who wants to try good Japanese food for a reasonable price.
I hope you enjoyed reading our restaurant review for today. Ti'll next time!
