Today, I want to share with you my “Halang-halang na Pato” recipe. Pato is a tagalog name of Picking Duck. I just got them at my backyard. Duck is one of the animals that I raised. It’s just because of my kids’ request that I got two of them and slaughtered. They’re really craving for this dish since they tasted it when my cousin cooked that kind of dish. Now, I am trying cook my version of it.So let’s start…
INGREDIENTS:
- 2 ducks
- Soy sauce
- Oyster sauce
- Vinegar
- Magic Sarap Seasoning
- Onion
- Garlic
- Chilli
- Cooking oil
PROCEDURE:
- Cut the duck meat, onion and garlic into small.
The marination process - Pour in the soy sauce, oyster sauce, vinegar and the magic sarap seasoning into the duck meat and mix.
- Marinate for 30 minutes.
The pre-cooking process

- Pre-heat pan in a medium low setting.
- When heated, put the marinated duck meat.
- Stir until it produces juice (broth) and becomes soft.
- Remove the pre-cooked meat separate from its juice and set aside.
The final cooking - Pre-heat pan and add cooking oil. Wait for the cooking oil to heat up.
- When oil is heated, add the garlic and onion until it turns golden brown.
- Add the pre-cooked duck meat.
- Add the chilli and cook for 30 minutes.
- After 30 minutes, pour in the duck broth and cooked for another 30 minutes or until it’s lightly dry up. (if you don’t want it dry you can add water)
- And it’s ready!
This is my version of Halang-halang na Pato. It’s so delicious and mouthed-watery. Try to have your version too fellow steemians.
