If you have to ask my family who is their favourite chef there won’t be a debate. Travis, our blue-eyed boy!
We’ve always said that he was born with kitchen utensils in his hands.

Travis loves cooking and he is forever nagging us to be in the kitchen. Just a pity that he doesn’t like washing up. 😊

One of the family members felt so sorry for him standing on his toes when he wanted to “braai” (South African barbeque) that he actually made him a shorter braai.

He will braai anything that comes his way, chicken, lamb and pork chops, ribs and even corn on a cob.

His best cooking is;

• His famous Mac and cheese
• Ham omelettes
• Pizza’s
• Chocolate brownies
• Pancakes and of course his
• Braai’s!

The grandchildren slept by us the other night as mommy had to be at the hospital early the next morning. I just have to share our conversation with you.

Us	Our Conversation
Me	Travis, what do you want to be when you are grown up?
Travis	A cooking policeman
Me	Whey a cooking policeman?
Travis	So that I can cook for the president and look after him
Me	Why do you like cooking so much?
Travis	I’m practising
Me	Practising for what?
Travis	I’m going to win Masterchef when I’m bigger
Me	What is your favourite dish you like to cook?
Travis	Mac and cheese
Me	Are you going to make us Mac and cheese for us tonight?
Travis	No, I don’t feel like it.
Me	It’s fine, granny will make you guys some curry and rice
Travis	But granny I want to cook. (very upset)
Me	Okay, it’s fine. You can cook. What you are you going to make for us?
Travis	Chips and viennas (Vienna sausages)

And so it was, I had to defrost viennas so that Travis could make his chips and viennas.

When we saw the concentration on his face when he cut the viennas we just burst out laughing and there and then I decided that this will have to be my entry for this contest. I have to introduce you to Chef Travis, our favourite chef.

Me	Why do you cut the viennas?
Travis	So that when I fry them they are crispy

Oh well, I suppose you are never too old to learn.

Travis's famous 3 ingredient Mac and cheese recipe

Ingredients:

• 3 cups macaroni
• 5 cups milk
• 2 cups grated cheese (cheddar)

Method:

1. Put the milk in a pot and let it boil
2. Add the pasta and let it cooked for +/- 10 minutes or until the pasta is cooked. You must constantly stir while the pasta is cooking
3. Switch of the stove and add the cheddar.
4. Stir the pasta mixture until the cheese is melted
5. You can add some salt if you want to
