Sugar coated Churros

I like to try new recipes always. Today I wanted to make churros. A fried dough pastry originated in Span and Portugal. And it is a traditional food there. I used a recipe I food in a video because I don’t know much about this food. It is said that it can be coated with sugar powder, sugar powder mixed with cinnamon powder or eat it by dipping it in the chocolate.

Ingredients

1 cup water

100g butter

2tbsp sugar

Pinch of salt

1 cup flour

1tsp vanilla

Powdered sugar (for coating)

3 eggs

First add 2tbsp sugar, water and butter into a pan and heat it.

Let the water boil and dissolve sugar and butter.

When water keeps boiling, add the flour into it and mix it to make a good dough. Set the flame into low and keep mixing the dough. That way dough can be cooked well. If there are any white color flour crumbs, crush them with the spoon and mix the dough well.

After cooking the dough for few minutes it can be combine as a large ball. Get it out from the flame and punt into a bowl. Then keep it aside to cool a bit. If we mix eggs right after getting away from the heat, eggs will be cooked because of the heat.

After dough is cool enough mix eggs one by one. You can use your hand mixer or a spatula. Add vanilla and mix with the dough.

Final dough will look like this.

Get a big nozzle and add it into a piping bag. I used 1M nozzle. Putting the piping bag in a glass like below will help to put the dough easily into the piping bag.

Squeeze dough into frying pan and cut using a scissor. Fry them in a pan while keeping the flame low. Otherwise it will get brown without properly frying.
When it is fried into golden brown color get it out and coat with sugar.
