The sea of Mars : Cake

This cake is made with cake and jelly. I will first describe how to make this cake and then I will say why I named it “The sea of Mars”. Originally, I was going to make an island cake. For an island cake you will need,

Getting cake ready

I used one cake of heart shape because I didn’t had round shape springform pan. Get the cake and cut the top of the cake to level. Don’t throw away the pieces that have cut from the top. I used these pieces to create a little island on top. You can mix ganache with cake pieces and make an island. I used little bit of butter cream for it.
Apply ganache over cake and let it sit few minutes in the fridge.

Apply some ganache in the baking pan to secure it from leakages. I didn’t have acetate papers so I used cling films to secure more and get the shape. Otherwise jelly will be messed up when we take the cake out.

Making Jell O

Add cold water to bloom the gelatine.

Boil 300ml water by adding 75g sugar into it. Add few drops of blue coloring to turn the water into color of sea. After boiling it mix the water with gelatine and let it sit until it cools down into room temperature.

After that add little amount of jelly into pan. When this state is coming cake should be placed inside the baking pan. Let the jelly set before adding the whole amount. Then add gelatine mixture and let it sit until it sets completely.

You will think why I told you to add blue coloring, but my cake has orange color jello. I have added blue jello before. But it leaked out inside the fridge and messed up. After that I couldn’t buy blue or green jello or gelatine. Instead my dad bought an orange jello packet. So I didn’t had any other options but to use it.

My sea looks orange now. So I decided to give it a new name. I cannot call this one an island cake. Named it “Sea of mars” 😁.

To make the finishing I got few crackers and crushed them into little crumbs. Separate it into tw parts and mixed green coloring for one. Used it to add on top of island to make it look green island and other part has added as sand around the island.
