Hello there,

This is actually my first posting, and i want your help and opinions to settle an argument.

We ran into this machine recently, after being installed in my local market. It allows you to juice oranges freshly and purchase them afterwards. My son and I came across it, and we both had different thoughts almost right away.

My first reaction was interest, since i had not come across them in person. My interest quickly changed to caution, since I noticed there was no attendant, and that it had supplied oranges which were lower quality than the oranges a few feet away in the produce baskets.

My son on the other hand was simply amazed. He thought it was the coolest thing to be able to see what was in the juice you bought, which i couldnt argue. He also added that it was an opportunity for an experience to make the food we bought, which i didnt see much value in until reflecting later.

My argument is whether or not these machines or similar ones do actually contribute to the idea of valuing food differently by having to make it, and if more places would benefit from learning more about how their food gets to their stores, and eventually, their plates.

I would also like to ask about the possible health or injury risks and possible safety concerns for similar hardware. There was no one supervising the machine, and there was evidence of other fruit besides orange being shoved into the device.

Any input would be greatly valued, and i look forward to viewing and creating more content here.
