"Steem Lens #5 | [Preserve water bodies ]"

Hello friends,

This area is now belong to Kolkata Municipal Corporation. It was earlier in the Behala Municipal Corporation. As it is outskirts of the proper Kolkata there were many water bodies. Unfortunately due to rapid urbanization many water bodies have been filled and construction of buildings took place very rapidly.

Due to this environmental balance and ecosystem is disturbed. The scarcity of water for miscellaneous work has been noticed. Stability of the land is in question. There are shortfall of locally available fresh water fishes and amphibians.

Due to lack of vigilance people used to through garbage into pond. As a result it becomes dirty and filthy. The water becomes rotten and mosquitoes are reproduced in rapid space.

Probably some local people who are concerned about the deterioration, have compelled CMC to renovate the pond and making the area safe and beautiful.

These are the post of sal trees about twenty feet long to be inserted into the pond for making a well defined boundary of the pond. Three fourth will go below the water level. One fourth will be above the water level.

The outer side of boundary is filled with sand bags to support the post from tilting towards bankside. It gives the boundary of the pond a permanent shape and strength.

One can see well people still through garbage in the pond which will be protected by vigilance and high iron grills.

Once the area is renovated and beautified there can be options of revenue earning to protect and maintain the pond and its surroundings.
