PATIENCE AND KINDNESS
A good moderator ought to posses the quality of patience and kindness.
When working amongst your team, you ought to be kind in words as also be patient with them.
Another situation where a moderator has to be patient is when addressing members of his community.
As moderators, we know that we encounter users that needs to be guided all the time in the community, we ought to be patient with them as they are still learning and wr should be kind to them when giving them corrections.
This will help them learn faster and feel at ease while learning.
A MODERATOR MUST BE ACTIVE
Being active in the community is another quality that a moderator ought to posses.
As a moderator, you need to lead by example.
You need to be active before you can stand in the position to correct others in your community.
When you are inactive, you won't be able to spot individuals that should be guided in your community and this can stunt the growth of such community.
A MODERATOR MUST KNOW THE DOS AND DON'TS OF THE SYSTEM
Being a moderator, you are also the leader of the community and as such you must have a vast knowledge on the dos and don'ts of the community.
Without having this knowledge, it will be impossible to correct/guide other users on the dos and don'ts of the platform.
It is very important that a moderator acquire vast knowledge on the mode of operation of the system, which will keep him in a better position to direct other users.
A MODERATOR MUST BE ORIGINAL
As a moderator, your post must be of high quality and very original.
If you are making use of someone's image, you should source it properly.
The contents of a moderator in a community should never be plagiarized, no atom of plagiarism should ever been found in it, as this will be disastrous to the growth of such moderator.
A moderator should be unique, as this will motivate others to follow his footsteps.
A MODERATOR SHOULD BE INTERESTED IN THE GROWTH OF THE PLATFORM
Interest- this is the first thing a moderator must have.
Before an individual is appointed as a moderator, he should first of all have the interest to work as a moderator, otherwise he won't perform his duties properly.
The interest in the work makes the moderator to be hard-working, kind, patient and zealous.
Without these qualities, it will be difficult for one to excel as a moderator in the community.
