Let's begin with a little introduction before we get into the details. Satoshi Nakamoto is the alias under which the person or group of people who founded Bitcoin in 2008 operate. Many people over the years have tried and failed to figure out who they really are.

  • The first thing you need to know is that Nick Szabo has a lot of admirers among the crypto community, one of them being Satoshi Nakamoto.

Nick Szabo is a renowned cypherpunk, computer scientist, and cryptographer who pioneered the use of cryptographic protocols in financial transactions. Szabo has been accused of being Satoshi Nakamoto, however he has always denied this. Undoubtedly, Satoshi was affected by Szabo's research. Satoshi references "bit gold" (which Szabo coined) as an influence on Bitcoin in the Bitcoin whitepaper.

  • Indication No. 2: Satoshi Nakamoto most likely represents a consortium of individuals.

Satoshi Nakamoto may not be the lone individual who is credited with creating Bitcoin but rather a group of people working together. Some have even speculated that several people worked under the alias "Satoshi Nakamoto" to develop the Bitcoin protocol. The fact that the Bitcoin code is written in near-perfect English lends credence to the hypothesis that its author is a native English speaker, which is less likely to be someone from Japan despite the name.

  • Thirdly, Satoshi Nakamoto was involved with the Bitcoin community up until 2011.

Aside from being the brains behind Bitcoin, Satoshi Nakamoto also played a key role in the network's infancy. Satoshi was rumored to have engaged in Bitcoin-related internet discussions and email threads with other community members. But in April of 2011, Satoshi vanished without a trace, and nobody has seen or heard from him since.

  • A fourth undeniable truth is that Satoshi Nakamoto is one of the world's wealthiest individuals.

It stands to reason that Satoshi Nakamoto, Bitcoin's creator, would have a sizable sum of Bitcoin. With today's pricing, Satoshi's estimated 1 million Bitcoin holdings are worth more than $50 billion. Hence, Satoshi would become one of the world's wealthiest persons while maintaining their anonymity.

  • Perhaps revealing references to Satoshi Nakamoto's identity in the Bitcoin code is fact number five.

Others have speculated that Satoshi Nakamoto may have left hints about their identity in the Bitcoin code, but this remains a mystery. The Bitcoin source code, for instance, includes the comment "The Times 03/Jan/2009 Chancellor on brink of second bailout for banks," which is a reference to a headline from The Times newspaper on the day that the Bitcoin network went live. Some have interpreted this remark as a knowing wink at their genuine identity.

For what it's worth, Satoshi Nakamoto has never stopped being a mystery in the fields of technology and finance. No one will ever know for sure who created Bitcoin, but it won't stop us from guessing and learning from the experience.
