Today, I had plans! I needed to do a few things on the computer, but before I could complete them, I got a phone call from work. My coworker said she didn’t have any internet. A big deal as our office software is cloud based. So I talked her through unplugging the modem and replugging it back in. Nothing-she said. Well, that left me with no recourse but to go to work and troubleshoot the network.
It was down but just the internet. Our network was okay. So I called the provider and went through some automated prompts and got them to reset the modem. Within 10 minutes or so, we were back in business. So I made sure she could log into the software and exchanged pleasantries for a brief time before leaving. I needed to get home-after all, I had plans!
After months of sometimes incredible pain, I was at a point where I was ready to attempt a hike up to Towhee Ridge! It’s a hilly climb and a somewhat lengthy one. I’ve not been long distance hiking really since last year as my hip pain would not allow me. With God’s grace and some work on my part, I wanted to give it a try. We headed out around 12:30. Jan came with, and I had told both her and @silvertop, that if I started hurting, I would need to sit for 5-10 minutes and then progress onward.
Amazingly, I only felt a twinge when sidestepping over some metal at the base of the Upper Trail and once when I slipped because of leaves. Everything was wet from rain we had last night.
@actifit-lamb made the trek with us. Here’s a picture of her on one of the barrels up on the deck at the top of Towhee Ridge.
In this next picture, out in the distance from this vantage point, you can usually see Sumas Mountain in the distance. We were socked in with clouds so there wasn’t much view for her to enjoy.
There were LOTS of ‘shrooms EVERYWHERE! Leaves abounded on the forest floor as well. I took lots of photos and will share over the next few days. Enjoy today’s selection of eye candy!
When we were sitting at the picnic table, I spied this little almost translucent bug. He was maybe an eighth of an inch, if that, in length! I used my telephoto to get details we might not otherwise see.
I wished I’d gotten the shot centered, but telephoto and small moving objects are hard to coordinate! 😜
Down by the pond, we came across these two girls enjoying fallen apples. 🍎
I was very happy to have conquered the goal I’d set for today. I am feeling pretty good after the hike and am hoping that tomorrow is relatively pain free. I am planning one major hike a week as long as things are good. Next week: Buckhorn Trail or bust!
That’s gonna be it for today. Take care and enjoy the rest of your day! 🙏🙏🇮🇱🇺🇦
