The sky was on fire tonight as I left work! It was amazing! I pulled over to get the shot, but the entire western sky was alight! đđĽ
Work was busy today even with a couple of âno showsâ. I had four patients with the new Medicare advantage plan, so it was my maiden voyage into that today. Iâm hoping to get a couple of things done prior to opening tomorrow. Fingers crossed! đ¤
Turkey Tail - no, not the tail of a turkey, but a âshroom, of course! It grows prolifically here in the Pacific Northwest forests. A few years ago, I watched a documentary called âFantastic Fungiâ which I think you can still view on YouTube. One of the many âshrooms they talked about was Turkey Tail.
Itâs highly recognizable by its fan shape and colorful rings.
It grows on deadwood and has been used in traditional medicine for centuries. ChatGBT says this additional information:
Key Features:
1.Appearance:
â˘Fan or semicircular shape.
â˘Concentric rings of colors such as brown, white, gray, orange, or blue.
â˘Velvet-like texture on top with pores underneath (not gilled).
2.Medicinal Uses:
â˘Contains polysaccharides like PSK (Polysaccharide Krestin) and PSP (Polysaccharide Peptide), which have immune-boosting and potential anti-cancer properties.
â˘Used in traditional Chinese and Japanese medicine to support the immune system, treat infections, and as an adjunct to cancer therapies.
â˘Known for its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits.
3.Preparation:
â˘Commonly consumed as tea, tincture, powder, or in capsule form.
â˘Dried mushrooms can be boiled to extract beneficial compounds.
4.Safety:
â˘Generally considered safe when consumed in moderate amounts, but individuals with allergies to fungi or certain health conditions should consult a healthcare provider.
Iâve found extraordinary colorful versions to some that even appear washed out.
It is so pretty to look at and I love the fact itâs readily viewable here.
There are a lot of fungi that have medicinal purposes, but please do you due diligence prior
to foraging for your own, or better yet, check and see if your favorite mail order or local pharmacy have it in supplement form. At least that way, you know itâs the real deal!
Here are some interesting âshrooms without any background to go along with it. They are cool to look at! Enjoy!
This is the second example of the hairy-stringy fungus weâve seen this year. In all the years Iâve been hiking, Iâve not noticed it before. Either itâs new to the area or itâs been dormant and the conditions were just right for it to live. Iâll have to see what I can dig up on it.
Thatâs gonna be it for now. Take care and enjoy the rest of your day wherever you are! đđđ

NLT Psalm 100:1-5
Shout with joy to the LORD, all the earth!
Worship the LORD with gladness.
Come before him, singing with joy.
Acknowledge that the LORD is God!
He made us, and we are his.
We are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
Enter his gates with thanksgiving;
go into his courts with praise.
Give thanks to him and praise his name.
For the LORD is good.
His unfailing love continues forever,
and his faithfulness continues to each generation.
