Is There Age Anxiety In Your Country?

AGE ANXIETY

An event where there's uncertainty, with no preceding shifts in the knowing or understanding of the world is actually the age of anxiety. Economic crises combined with humanitarian service led to age of anxiety.

In the 20th century, political and economic shift got worse and no better their efforts, it took a toll on young people causing anxiety, also, certain discovery in science caused ages of anxiety too. For young adults between 18-35yrs, they take their individual history and circumstances into account and that causes anxiety.

In my country Nigeria, nearly two out of five young adults has anxiety issues, where they are they are confronted with hard work of establishing selfhood and autonomy. Things like workplace, intimate relationships, college-level academics are becoming too much to handle. Also, high expectations from family members and social media can add to the stress.

Some common signs of anxiety in these set of adults(18+)are;

• Uncontrolled stress and worry feelings.

• Being on the edge or having restlessness sense.

• Having a worn down (fatigue) feelings for no reason.

• Joblessness while their peer have jobs.

• An academic or work performance dip.

• Having less interest in enjoyable activities.

From my research, anxiety issues in young adults result from life circumstances or genetic makeup. At the age of 28, most companies don't employ without a work experience. But you can't get a job before then to have the experience.

By the time you're done with university and finish National Youth Service Corps in Nigeria, you're expected to be below 25yrs, so they can employ you and train you or you're expected to have work experience before 25yrs old.

In other to cope with this age anxiety, I'll advice, you learn a trade while in school, you can collect loan and start up a business when you're done with school, the country doesn't even regard your certificate anymore. And also, have love for yourself so pressure doesn't wear you down.
