Echinodermata, or the most erasable creatures in the ocean known by many as the starfish have earned their appreciation from their limited distribution all across the oceans. Most often than not, most people consign the word starfish to a fish; however, they are not fish as they belong to the phylum echinodermata, which further contains sea urchins and sand dollars. The majority of the species are characterized by the presence of five or more ray protrusions that project from the central body in the shape of a star.
Starfish are equally important in various forms at the vast sea environment as they are used mainly as predators to provide equilibrium of such species in their region. The way they eat is very interesting as they extend their lower stomachs out of their bodies and cover their prey and digest the food, which in this case are mainly mollusks.
Starfish are one of the few organisms which have a high rate of regeneration and can grow back arms or certain body parts that are lost. It is important to note that in the process of movement, the arms of the starfish have very small tube-like projection under them which help them to move around the bottom of the sea.
However, it is cared for healthy for marine environments advancement to biological study of certain groups comprises of echinoderm in this case the starfish is not one of them but however is also extremely pleasing to observe.
