Cat Scratch Fever!😺😳
“Silvertop, have you seen any Deer lately?”😮
Jeff is one of Silvertop’s neighbors, just a couple of homes up our road.
We “share” the newborn deer population each Spring!😇
The Mother Deer know that this section of the forest between Silvertop’s home and Jeff’s home is always safe for their babies!😍
It also helps that both of us have numerous apple trees on our properties for a free meal!😇
This past Summer Liz and I were sitting in our hot tub, that is situated very close one of our apple trees, and had a very brave newborn Deer almost joined us in the hot tub Lol!😇🤣
We try not to interact too much with them, not all humans want to just snap photos…….🙄
The first photo has Cougar tree scratches from several years ago.
I haven’t spotted any fresh scratching this year………
Neither Jeff or myself have spotted any cougars this year at all, but with the dwindling deer population, it’s a telltale sign!🙄
It’s also one more reason to remember to keep a watchful eye out as we enjoy hiking in the mountains!😺
My youngest son that lives close to Seattle, tells me they have had several mountain bikers attacked by cougars this year!😮
Small Cats like Cot, and his very large relatives in the forest, all react to fast moving targets…….😳
Fast moving Mountain bikes, look like fast moving animals to hunt, and chase, from a Cougars point of view!😺
The good news is that they are all so very high strung temperament wise!
Standing your ground, making yourself look bigger than you are by waving your arms and talking loudly will usually send a Cougar running away………
Usually……………😇😺
Better yet, keep a watchful eye out behind, and above you, as you hike……….
Cougars like to stalk you from behind or above in the trees!
When we have spotted Cougar activity, Liz will carry her umbrella with her…….
Just pushing the button to instantaneously open an umbrella will probably spook any cat Lol!😳
“Cot….. come over here, Dad wants to test this umbrella theory out on you!”😻
“Just kidding my furry child, go back to sleep!”😍
