Over the ages and generations, humans have invented many things and their inventions have succeeded thanks to continuous research. Over the years, science and technology have developed and many things have become available and technology has facilitated many jobs. Science is still developing very significantly, but there are things that science has not been able to achieve despite much effort. Among the similar things between the ancient and modern eras is that they have not been able to fight death or make people live eternal life and will not be able to do so no matter what happens and no matter how much they develop science and technology because death is inevitable and the fate of every human being on the face of the earth, just as it was the fate of humans to come to this life and live in it, their life must end and they must die.
In my opinion, living an eternal life is something completely unlikely. If it were possible, something would have been invented that would make a person live an eternal life since ancient times. There are things that we cannot change because they are inevitable. Even if experiments were conducted and the genies were extracted to return them to life, they would not be able to do so no matter what they did. There is life and in contrast to it is death. We cannot change things that God has written for us.
If I were given the choice to live an eternal life, I would choose to live an eternal life on the condition that it would be completely free of misery, sadness, pain, poverty, and injustice, and that it would be full of happiness, contentment, love, and joy. But this life that we live is full of worries and misery, and you cannot be happy forever in it.

Nope, I would not... Uploaded memories is not a life worth living. Moreover, longevity in and by itself does not interest me very much, as it doesn't say anything about what one is to do with all that time. It is what we do with time that makes life worth living, traveling either physically or virtually by way of reading a good book or seeing a good film, is in my view what makes life worth living. Ironically, the most depressing film I saw recently on Netflix was called something about 'not dying' and it was about this rich dude that did everything to maximize his longevity, and I couldn't help thinking how sad it was to impose such self-inflicted constraints on your life just eating supplements and shying away from sunlights etc. to muster a year or two extra in effective life time. What is the point in prolonging a life by way of stripping it away of all the things that makes living worth it in the first place. Open the door mate!! Go out into the world, try a Neapolitan pizza instead of all that supplements, reach out to someone who will greet you with a smile. Live a little!
When we stop worrying about longevity for its own sake, then we can start talking about the value of life:)

I also watched that movie. I share the same perspective as you: "What is the point in prolonging a life by way of stripping it away of all the things that make living worth it in the first place." But I also think that he gave his life a completely new meaning. What gives his life meaning is entirely different from what gives ours meaning.

Hi there, good to hear that we are in agreement on what makes life worth living. But just out of curiosity what did he do to give his life an entirely new meaning. Other than just extending its duration... I didn't see the whole movie because it got rather boring very quickly when I realized what he was striving to do, but maybe I missed something that made his choices more meaningful to him as you say, even if his choices of course differ from what you and I would do...

Well, I see it this way: he’s a millionaire, and he’s probably already experienced all the pleasures in life that we can only dream of. The way we find joy in life is likely boring to him and doesn’t add anything new to his life anymore. He mentioned that he used to be a Mormon but left the religion, while two of his children still practice it, which creates distance between them. I think this situation also influenced what he’s doing.
It’s also interesting what he said about plasma transfusions. His child, with whom he maintains contact, donates plasma to him. It was mentioned that plasma from a young person given to an older person might help combat certain health issues. If there’s something to that, I think it could help many older people. That’s why I think his goal isn’t just to extend his own life.

Basically, I’m a new user too, as I’ve been here for about two months. I enjoy creating—writing, photographing, drawing. Thanks to this platform, I can learn something new. It is interesting how deeply rooted the instinct for survival is within us. It is hard for us to imagine that one day we will leave this world. "There is life, and in contrast to it is death. We cannot change things that God has written for us." – Of course, but doesn’t this God promise us eternal life after death? All the religions I know promise this. What’s more, even if you are a bad person, eternal life still awaits you, but in suffering.
