Good day dear Steemians, it is a privilege to be here at this moment of the day and join the contest organized by this community for Steemit Engagement Challenge Season 3. The topic of the contest is "The Past Machine". We were told to explain just one thing we did wrong or ought to do in the past and the approach we would take to ensure we did it the right way if we are allowed to visit the past to rectify it.

In life we cannot eat our cake and have it back, had it been we can all visit our past, we could have rectify our mistake, there are things we have done or things we ought to do but we neglected because of one reason or the other, and it always make us sad whenever we remember it, and we wish we could turn back the hand of time and do it the way it is supposed to be done.

Now it is left in our past and it serves as a lesson and experience for us so that we would not make the same mistake again and also we could advise other people through our mistake so that they also can learn from our past and take the right step. Today I would be telling you about my past mistake and how I would rectify the mistake if I were given the opportunity.

You have an opportunity to go back to the past, where would you go?

If I'm given this opportunity to go back I would go to the year that I wrote Join Admissions and Matriculation Board (Jamb) exams, I obtained post Jamb form but did not go for the post jamb exam. This year is something I can never forget because I give up so easily without doing proper finding and only allowed someone's words to discourage me. Remembering the incident now always make me feel sad because I believed in another person's words so easily.

My picture in school

What year would you travel to?

I would travel to the year 2012, this is a year when I wrote Jamb and chose Ladoke Akintola University as my first and second choice to study nursing. After writing Jamb, I passed and I was supposed to write post Jamb, I obtained the post jamb form, registered, and was preparing ahead of the day for the exam only for one of my relatives to discourage me and my mom that the school fee is much and there is no way my mother would be able to afford the fee.

We were told the school fee alone is #150,000 and hearing that made my mom sad because truly she cannot afford such, we did not have a good phone to access the internet at that time, we believed what the person said totally since he is learned, seeing my mom sad was not something I want so I decided that I would not write the exam because I know that if I pass, and my mother is not able to get the money she would become more unhappy.

And that was how I ended up not writing the exam and later enrolled to the college, it was after I graduated from the college and started working that I met a student of the school that I realized their fee is not expensive at all, it was just like #10,000 higher than my college fee. I felt so sad but there was nothing I could do about it again because it happened some years ago.

What would you change?

If I am opportune to travel back to the past, I would love to change some things which Include:

Doing proper Research: I would do my findings about the school fee and not listen to my relatives that advised me and my mom wrongly just because he doesn't want to help us with the fee.

Go for the Exam: Even after advising about the fee, I would still go for the exam and sees it as part of my experience because I have paid for it already and doing it will not cost me much aside from my transport fare.

Keep my Faith Strong in God for Help: I would not allow any advice to change my mind rather I would hold on to my faith in God that He would surely provide for my school fee and I shall not be put to shame.

Conclusion

Past are passed because it was left in our yesterday but it was left fresh in our memories so that we would learn from it and make the right decision whenever we encounter such again and advise people experiencing such situations as ours.

Furthermore, from my own experience, I learned to always do proper findings, not make rash decisions due to my emotion, and put my faith and total trust in God because He is the great helper that we ever need in this life.

This is my past mistake, I learned greatly from it and since then I'm never giving up on whatever I want again no matter how big the obstacle on my way is. This is where I will be stopping for today, thank you so much for reading.

Oh oh.
This is huge. Sorry about the post jam exams. It's happen to me some time ago but not as huge as yours. That person delt with you. If it's possible you would go back and change it Asap. But it's done you have to focus more on available opportunities ahead of you.✌️

That is it, even though I felt sad when I finally knew the truth about the fee, I was grateful for being able to achieve one of my dream and I chanel my energy to bring the best out of it.

A disappointment is a blessing in another way🙏🏼

This is written beautifully. You have explained the contest topic in a very simple way. There are so many things people who want to change if they were opportune to go to the past.... Some would want to do some things very well. Thank you for inviting me.

Kind regards!

Thank you for reading.

Let the past pass. I salute your generosity. We live in the present. Let's fight for today's opportunity as best we can to reach the future as bright as possible. Good luck for the contest, dear.

Yes, past left us with memories and lesson. Thank you for sharing on my post.

The pleasure is all mine. Thank you for having me.

Sometimes the reason why we slack behind is because we fail to try things by ourself. The word of your cousin was what discourage you mom from allowing you to study nursing. Thank you still went to school. Best of luck to you.

Thank you for sharing on my post dear.

They say everything happens for a reason, I guess it had to be that way. Sometimes we don't understand why things happen and time helps us to unveil the reason. As you rightly say, faith in God is essential in our lives and whatever His will is, so be it.
Have a nice day.

The thought of man might be different from what God plan is for such person, all we have to do is to walk in His way, tried our best and let His will be done in our lives. Thank you for sharing on my post.

Greetings friend, the mistakes of the past do not help to grow and be better in the future. Never give up on your dreams and have faith in God that everything will turn out just fine. I wish you much success in all your goals. Cheers!!

Thanks for the word of encouragement.
