Nothing Lasts Forever...

With some sadness, I note the imminent passing of popular front end and app @steempeak.

According to the developer team, the app will be gradually phased out over the next couple of months. I always enjoyed using SteemPeak — in fact, most of my posts have been created with it — and will miss the feature rich interface.

In fact, this may turn out to be my final SteemPeak post, as I have not yet ascertained what will happen to the images embedded in our posts when we use the app.

A heartfelt thanks to the developers who definitely made the Steemit/Steem experience experience more enjoyable!

The Transience of Things

The announcement was a reminder that few things in life are permanent... or lasting, even.

We often wander through life looking for something fixed we can call our own; that gives our life deeper meaning... and yet, all these efforts to find our personal hidden treasures of meaning typically leaves us feeling that we are no closer to the answer than when we started out.

Hence the wisdom of many so-called "Gurus" throughout the ages: Let's worry ourselves less about the goal or destination we seek, and instead take time to simply enjoy the journey.

Sometimes, that's easier said than done!

Times of Uncertainty

Meanwhile, we find ourselves living in an era of great uncertainty... particularly here in the year 2020 where it has seemed like a new surprise could — and probably will — come along tomorrow.

Pandemics, political turbulence, economic uncertainty... they all seem to be at all-time highs, as the world struggles to come to grips with "the new normal."

Or is this even normal? Or is it merely a waystation on the road to the next round of chaotic events? At times, I find myself whether all this really IS more turbulent than in years gone by... or am I simply getting older and thus less capable of elegantly adapting to a constantly changing world? I don't know, for sure.

And so, I guess I will go back to creating posts via the "main" interface as this journey continues.

Thanks for reading, and I hope you have a good Halloween weekend!

It is a shame to hear that, they mentioned rightly that there was not much interest from Steemt Team side I can imagine when they work and got no interaction.

I think this year was really chaotic with a lot of events where we have seen how people should not work and decisions of our politician that actually were absolutely absurd.

That is why I think it is the world is getting crazy rather you getting older :)

The world certainly feels crazy @stef1, and sometimes it feels like I have lost my way.

Of course, now we have a whole new level of crazy here in the USA with the Presidential election... it would be weeks before they get it all sorted out. Absurd, indeed!

Maybe I'm NOT going crazy... but it's difficult to keep sailing with an even keel!

Steempeak is the only way that I interact with Steemit. I'm not really a fan of the standard interface so yeah, i'll miss it for sure.

I had noticed that certain functions of it were slowly losing functionality so this could be a real setback for me but I suppose we'll have to roll with it.

Are you aware of any alternatives out there?

Unfortunately I don't... since busy.org is no more; they were (at least for my money) the most viable alternative.

I guess I'll just have to get used to using the main interface again... goodness knows, I wrote 100's of posts with it in the early says of Steemit!

yeah, i guess it'll be the same for me. Pity, I really liked things the way they were but we must adapt and overcome!

I don't know what I'm going to do! any ideas? It's the only front end I use because the posting tool is so good.

Dunno what to tell you; I'm going to miss the ability to have templates and to save drafts... the whole thing more or less sucks.

i never used Steempeak so i dont know if i should be sad or happy haha

Based on this year nothing is out of question anymore

I found it to be a really user-friendly and feature rich point of access to Steem... personally I'll miss it!
