ᔕᑕᗷ Comments and SCXX comment

in hive-152479 •  4 days ago  (edited)

Comments deserve to be upvoted.

I don't know about other curating teams but I can only say that the majority of Team 2 - True Colours votes comments and not posts. We try to avoid upvoting posts because all the other teams already foresee in upvoting them. We try to focus on art, creativity and if we "can not" vote the content we search for a good comment of this author.

Is it hard to find a good comment? It is not for me but it is true always the same write long comments and engage and this group is small.

At times I make a post out of a comment because I realize that:

  1. I can not see what I type in the comment section
  2. the comment could be read/useful to more than to the one it is addressed to.

Why are more posts curated than comments?

Posts are easy to find and if you are not a commenter yourself you don't know who is.

I don't know if you ever read True Colour's week nominations but we do nominate comments.
Why? Because the comments we curate are better and many are longer than the average post!

I agree that those who mainly comment should be rewarded because without readers and unique commenters Steemit is dead.

Commenting takes a lot of time.

If you are good there is not much room left to post!
I don't agree it doesn't take much time to write a few sentences. Writing takes at least 10-15 minutes including adding the picture. This besides of the struggle with a ridiculous small comment field where you can not see what you write (a max of 3 lines which is already filled by the "code" of the picture). Besides of this fact I doubt comments written by SC0x are read. We already see it with mod reports where a comment or remark is frequently ignored.

Also the comments left by participants of #wewrite are by far not answered. lf 4 posts can be curated per hour it is much meaning it takes 7 hours non stop curating (without eating or a toilet visit) to do 28 posts per day. Add 28 * 10 minutes typing on a phone (those few lines....).and we talk about another 4.5 hours!
The question is:
Does @atego miss a comment, interaction, do others miss it?

The picture left behind.

To me it is a nice gesture accompanied with a message. Next to that it will work as a check for the Steemit team.

We don't need it to find our weekly nominees because we save all links + info in a group.

If it comes to the "banner" left behind:
We leave a picture with a smile and it comes with a message.

Comment left by SC0x

True Colours (SC04 right now) does connect, leaves messages, does talk, makes jokes and does help if asked but will no longer spam @atego who labelled and muted us and as far as I understood it's the same for the German community unplugged. The result is we'll search for other Europeans to vote for since Europe is ignored by most SC0x teams. I assume this happens for the same reason as why mainly posts are upvoted; it is time consuming to find them.

For now I don't see any reason to change how we work. Those who do not want a picture can mention it and we simply skip them.

Is it always great to see the same picture more than once in a comment section?
The answer is no, especially not if it comes to upvoting comments but that counts as well for the banners and text witnesses leave behind and all those mod-reports.

I wish you a great Friday, it isn't weekend yet or?

This is another example of Comment that worth more than post, I am pretty sure it did not take you long time to put it together. Like I mentioned often if you have an idea and developing it it definitely will go into great interaction with content of the post.

You changed the whole curation rules since you came and that is absolutely awesome thing that is why I was very happy to see you applying again for the curator. I know that is taking more and more of your time from your daily life and family and also it is something that I do not want your family to suffer from your activities here.

My proposal to change the curation attitude was directed to other curators and even if not in such volume like your team is doing but at least some. If all Curation teams will do more for comments and will nominate comments that everything will be changed.

I can imagine that you are trying to search and support users from European countries because they are often not visited by SCXX accounts and also not many from Europe applying for curators, I hope that if we change SCXX banner and accompany with comments then everyone will be happy too.

I think the banner with team and curator name should be there, otherwise it is too empty and also it is easy recognisable what team is there, of course, it depends on the size of picture.

Thank you again for your opinion and I am wishing you to get a curator job for October!!!

I can write easily but it does take a lot of time to type in a small comment section with one thumb on a phone. 🤔

so this is about 1 hour work if not more

I completely agree that comments deserve more attention and recognition.

I've always said in the Italian community that good interaction enriches the community and adds value to the content.
What value does a post have without comments? Has it been read by anyone?

If comments were considered and rewarded like posts, there would be a great chance that interactions across the platform would increase.

Engaging with comments takes time, and if we have to write them in another language, it requires even more attention and the use of a translator to correct any mistakes.
Therefore, from my perspective, comments should be valued and given more visibility.

Regarding the automated comments from steemcurators, I understand that it would be nicer to personalize them for each user, but this takes a lot of time.

A curator has a set time to vote, you know, also considering the account recharge time, if the voting power falls below 90%, lower rewards are distributed, after which the work passes to the next colleague.

However, we could focus on quality by voting for fewer posts and comments each day while personalizing the automated comment.
This could serve as an example to all Steemit users and provide greater recognition for the curated posts.

In any case, Steemit is a constantly evolving platform, and dialogue among everyone is always positive: we can always find new ideas to improve the work being done.

How about testing for a few weeks if commenting and engagement increases if a few people start commenting daily in one community?

Do you have any idea how many new posts Italy has per day?

Perhaps with a group of 5 we can comment daily and see what happens.

What do you think?

In Italy it already happens. Users comment on each other. We of italygame take care of the comments with 10% of the vote, about 10 comments per day. Of course it's not a lot to entice people to comment, but it's a small support.
If you take a look through the posts there is enough interaction. For example @lupega, @kork75, @aston.villa, @pousinha, @robytrix, @dim753, are the most active but there are many others.
However, I'm open to any experiment.😉

You rather prefer us to start in a different community?

No, Italy is perfect. 😜
