Right from junior school, we all have been taught to work hard. I feel we are working too hard already yet producing very little result. Do not get me wrong, it is very advisable to work hard.
How about you learn to put nitro to your power box, working less and earning more than working more and earning less? Below are five reasons why working smart is more advantageous than working hard.
1 You expend less energy; you earn more.
I used to walk to my office every morning but yet I am paid peanuts. The peanuts weren't the only problem. I am also prone to receive insults from my too-many bosses at the slightest of things that I may have done or didn't do (actions and inactions).
What did I do?
I quit the job after discovering that I could work online from the comfort of my home, earning more, and not refusing insults! I ventured into freelance writing and guess what? I was earning thrice was I was paid monthly.
2 You are open to learning more ways to earning more.
If you are all about creating income, surely you want to seek other ways to do it. In my country, you are paid a salaried job monthly without any room to improvise in learning something new. However, I was independent and was earning quite more. I did a bit of graphic designs for my first client and she seem to call my seemingly novice design an expert touch!
3 You have more time to do other things.
Yes, I have worked on a per-hour basis. I like to schedule my work frame in a way that does not affect some other activities. A lot of people working hard are always present in their working environments, exerting much energy and getting small results. People who work smart were also people who worked hard at some point who augmented...and started beginning to understand the value of working smart.
4 Working smart does not get outdated.
Since the larger thing to be done is done through technology, it never depreciates. In other words, as the jet age gets updated, it becomes easier and smarter unlike working hard where an adjustment in technology may require more effort.
5 You need to work smart.
The richest people alive work smart. Let's use Zuckerberg for example. He launched Facebook from his room. He probably did an environmental scanning and realized that the future had prospects. Jobs of Apple also faced similar challenges in their first phase of development. Today, they are too rich to be too poor. The good news is that they are many ways to work smart in everything!
Oh god, I'm trying to work smart.
But the first thing we have to do for work smart is learn more.
