My sister locs journey.....
I have never been a fan of locs. I love my natural cotton puffy hair. I have 4c hair and if you have it you know the hustle of growing it and maintaining it. Over the years I’ve been trying out all sorts of hair styles. From braids, to cornrows, to weaves you name it, I have done it all.
Well, all the time I would do my hair, I looked beautiful and so radiant to the core but just two weeks into doing my hair, it would look like I had done it three months ago. This, I found strange but I still continued braiding my hair. When removing it, most of my hair at the front would break and it wasn’t a pleasing site to see. I started looking for hair style that I would like on the internet and landed on the sister locs and I quickly fell in love with them. To me they looked better than the traditional locs.
I decided to read about them for a week and also talk to a friend of mine called May about it since she has had her sister locs for 2 years now. She told me all about the do’s and don’ts and what I should expect when I do loc my hair. Most of the times we see many people looking good with their locs but don’t know what it takes to look like that. They are not cheap. Depending on the density of your hair comes the price. If you don’t want it for long term, please don’t have them because you will quickly get tired of them or even hate them.
Always know that it is an investment. When I installed my locs I spent $100. This is because I bargain a lot and also I am in a developing country but most of developed countries install sister locs between $1000- 1500 again this depends on the length of your hair.
Rocking my locs....
Having sister locs takes a lot of patience and endurance and one should love it from the get go. At very stage love your hair. It is a commitment it will be will you are married to it. Picture yourself with them. Think hard before getting them, don’t be impulsive.
I can't wait to see how these locs will turn out to be.
