I totally agree with you, we design our future through our daily actions, our past and present.

There is a teaching of the Buddha:

"If you want to know what your past is like, look at what is happening in your present.

If you want to know what your future will be like, look at how you act in your present."

It all basically boils down to the Now and our actions in this instant.
