Wonderful The Millennium Cross

The Millennium Cross is a 66-meter-high cross on top of Mount Vodno (1,066 m) that rises above Skopje, northern Macedonia, and is the tallest cross in the world. The cross was built in 2002 on the occasion of the 2000th anniversary of Christianity in Macedonia and the world. The Millennium Cross can be seen from a distance of 30 km.

Construction
Construction began in 2002 and was funded by the non-canonical Macedonian Orthodox Church, the Macedonian government, and donors from Macedonia and around the world. The cross was built on the highest point of the mountain Vodno at the place Krstovar - which is the Turkish name for "Place of the Cross" because there was a smaller cross there before the Millennium Cross. On September 8, 2008, on the Independence Day of the Republic of Macedonia, an elevator was installed in the cross. In 2009, a restaurant and a souvenir shop next to the cross were opened.
