I wish to express my profound gratitude to our dear and prestigious Community for coming up with this interesting topic for discussion.
Let me begin my comment by dwelling a little on what education means.
Education is defined as a process of acquiring knowledge. It could be Formal or Informal . While former starts when the child is a Little older the later begins as soon as the child is born and the parents as the first teachers.
But in this discussion we are Talking on :

"Is higher education necessary in today's world ? "

The direct answer to this question is capital YES !
Now follow me closely as I buttress my point in support of my answer.
Education is said to be the key to success.
Education is also considered as the bedrock of every meaningful development.
Education is the light that illuminates our world. This invariably means that without education there be any success in life or better still all the doors of success would be locked from us. Without education there won't be any meaningful development. And of course without education our world will be covered or remain in darkness.
In as much as elementary education is important and necessary, the importance of higher education which includes both Secondary and tertiary education can never be overemphasized.
I am of the opinion that parent ought to make it a point of duty and as a matter or fact, a priority to ensure that their children acquire higher education.
No education, no knowledge acquired in life is a waste. The Best Investment parents can make in life is to invest in the education of their wards/children because
that will turn out to yield a better and greater dividend at the long run in life.

Even when people lived in the Stone age, iron age, and jet age education has always been considered ad being of Paramount importance. We that are living in this computer age can never think less about education. Both children and adults needs it to Survive , succeed and thrive well in this life. I hereby make a Clarion call on all stakeholders, parents, leaders to make tertiary a priority in whatever the do fr the healthy development of the society.
When you educate someone you are educating a nation because he must surely impact the society in one way or the other in a positive way.
We have medical doctors, Nurses, midwives, Electrical Engineer, mechanical engineer s, chemical and petrochemical engineers, aeronautical engineers, pharmacists, computer scientist and experts in different spheres of life that has improved and impacted human life positively simply because they were able to attain higher education.
If it will be possible I will opine that every parent endeavour to give their children quality higher education because that will make the self-reliant in life.
Above all, without good higher education there wouldn't be anything like steemit platform, good content creation and our stay here on steemit would have been impossible.
