Love is an enigma. It has baffled humanity for as long as it existed.

Love movie tropes are a favorite among the movie producers and movie goers alike. And remains to be so.

Love is beautiful when you are loved. Yet it can turn ugly when unrequited.

Love is a feeling. Perhaps it is the root of all other feelings.

Love cannot exist if there are conditions. Yet that is how we have shaped it. I love you only if...

They say God is love. Yet the same God loves you only if ...... Otherwise you can burn in eternal hell fire! Wow, that must be the best of all fear-based motivation tactics to sell "beliefs". It works! Is that really love? Are we made in the image of God or the other way around?

Unconditional love is an oxymoron.

Just love. That is enough.

Sort Order:

What is love:

It is that which is without condition, without limitation, and without need.

Because it is without condition, it requires nothing in order to be expressed. It asks nothing in return. It withdraws nothing in retaliation.

Because it is without limitation, it places no limitation on another. It knows no ending, but goes on forever. It experiences no boundary or barrier.

Because it is without need, it seeks to take nothing not freely given. It seeks to hold nothing not wishing to be held. It seeks to give nothing not joyously welcomed.

And it is free. Love is that which is free, for freedom is the essence of what God is, and love is God, expressed.

Beautifully explained. Thanks for the reference.

"Love is God, expressed." That means whenever we express love in any form we are expressing God. Wow.

Thanks for the link, @juderita.

All relationships are built on three aspects that balance like the legs on a stool. These are Love, Respect, and Trust.

  • Love grows
  • Respect is earned
  • Trust is given

Love has many faces. The first is called Limerance. It can be measured by the number of times per day that you think of the one you love.

In some cases, high Limerance can lead to another face of love called Infatuation. This is an idealistic love. Your emotions get bound up with a perception of the one you love and not by your loves' reality.

I could go on but there are far more interesting people who can write on the subect.
