Do we actually reincarnate?

There is a general belief of an afterlife where people reincarnate but my question for today is, how possible is that?

Do people actually come back to life as themselves or
inanimate objects?

Do we have to live our lives differently if this is true?

What about those who lived by this school of thoughts?
