Hi @dibie,

The extract from the article "Important Notice - Copyright Infringement" reads:

The source or the link provided on the face of it should clearly identify the owner of the image and the license granted., without the reader having to click the link provided.

Shutterstock is not the owner of the image. It is the marketplace where the owners (artists) license their images. If you have read the article carefully you would have noticed how to give attribution for stock images. That article itself uses a stock image and the proper attribution style is shown there.

That is the proper way to cite copyright information and not what most people do on Steem - simply citing "source" in the link. Also remember that majority need not be in the right, and seldom they do.

Copyright owners would appreciate their names being mentioned in the link itself as it gives them exposure. Most artists are trying to eke out a living and would want their names to be mentioned in the link itself for exposure. Why deny them that when you are using their image for free? Surely you can do at least that little for them to show your gratitude. Those who are full of gratitude for all that life offers, do that even when no attribution is required by the artist!

They are your neighbors too. Anyone who is affected adversely or positively by your actions or inactions should be considered your neighbor.
