I think it's because most of the people still relate crypto in first place with bitcoin. It's also mostly reported in mainstream media ... when they say that price of crypto is changing, they usually show the price of bitcoin in the news.

Yes @zorank, you are right. But there is reason why it is popular with the media and exchanges. Do you think the first mover advantage and the fact that only 21m Bitcoins can be mined could have played a role in this?
