Steemit Engagement Challenge S9-W3: "Kindness that changed my life

What was the act of kindness that impacted your life? Describe the situation

Well, I can nudge multiple events under the shade of this umbrella but I would rather stick to one aspect of kindness (as this task requires) instead of superficially dawdling you through chain of acts and events that I have experienced in my life.

The event/s I am going to narrate is probably the first event and it holds importance in my life because it busted the negative belief that I held and most of us hold about the people of other places places.

Going out of station would always accompany a forewarning from friends and family. We are said to be cautious at new places. The words like: they will scam you; rob you; cheat you; defraud you and what not would always rule your mind when you are on transit to other place. You are made to look with suspicion at every person out there.
Probably in 2016, I was interning with a media house in New Delhi. While leaving the office situated at Sarvodaya Enclave I asked a biker to guide me through a nearest route to metro station as I was walking by foot. He was kind enough to ask me to get on his bike. I instantly got on the bike and he rode away. While relishing the ride I started getting scary thoughts. What if he harms me? These negative thoughts were of course triggered by the constant negativity spread around. I was safely dropped near the station. Back at Hotel, I shared the incident with a friend. I sensed a shock wave running through him.
This is not the only instance of kindness and gentleness that I have witnessed outside my state. I have found benevolently extending their helping.

What were the emotions you were feeling at that time?

Imagine somebody coming with a glass of water when you are dehydrated in a desert. My need for help at this point wasn't equivalent to the thirsty wanderer of desert but the magnitude of satisfaction wasn't any less. My happiness knew no bonds. In the times when hate against a particular community is spread systematically stumbling with someone who is helping and humane gives immense pleasure.

AT times dirty politics and media noise turns man against man. People who maintain and promote brotherhood at these occasions go a long way in bridging Gap between communities.

How did that act impact you? (Financially, emotionally, etc.)

I would say I see a good human being in everybody. No matter how bad the image media portrays, I go out and expect love from everyone. I have also publicly voiced my opinion and confronted those who spread negativity and hate. I keep sharing these events with the people and help them get rid of their negative opinions about other people.

What are the lessons you learned from that incident? Did it change your perspective on kindness and the way you treat others?

Places that are known for all the bad things can turn out to be completely different when you have the first hand experience of interacting with it's people. We should recognise the individuals and sections that stand out and make difference even when a particular place is generally painted in bad colour.

As it is said "Don't judge a book by its cover" Just because a place has gotten a certain reputation doesn't necessarily mean that every person there is unworthy of love and kindness.

People have more similarities than differences. No matter where we come from or what our circumstances are, we all have humanity in us and the humanity is enough to arm us with love and affection.

Kindness and love can break down barriers Even in the face of adversity, acts of kindness and love can bring people together and create a sense of bond.

When you receive love and kindness from unexpected places, it can help you appreciate the good things in your life and shift your focus away from negativity, in short, it changes our perspectives.

We all have the power goad the positivity and promote love. All we have to do is to be kind and loving to others. We can inspire others to do the same and create a ripple effect of positivity even in places where it may not be the norm.

In a round up I would reiterate that receiving love and support from unexpected places can be a powerful reminder of the goodness that exists in the world.

Did you manage to pass it forward by showing kindness to others? How?

The year 2019 was tumultuous for J&K's. Special status was scrapped and the State was downgraded into UTs
I feel sharing my positive experience with others can turn out to be the positive tool to spread positivity. As I have already hinted, I never miss a chance to share my experience with others. I do it with an intention to change their perspective about other places and at times I succeed in making the impact.
I have recently shared my experiences with a friend who got an admission in a University that is outside state.
