LOVE, CARE, PEACE AND PROTECTION MAKES A PLACE TO FEEL LIKE HOME

INTRODUCTION

What makes a place feel like home could be described as being in an environment or living in a family where there is no sense of suspicion or danger and our safety is guaranteed. In any environment or family where love, care, peace, and protection is practically demonstrated, I strongly believe that anyone could feel free to be in that environment or be happy to be a member of the family.

Now, let us think in the opposite direction. In Which environment do you think that would enhance your personal or collective growth system? I think your answer would be as good as mine. When we are in an environment or family where we are loved, cared for, peaceful and then protected, our individual or collective growth system would be enhanced. Somebody should now tell me why you won't feel at home to be in environment or family where you are being cared for, loved, a peaceful atmosphere, and then protected?

WHAT IS A HOME?

A home could be regarded as that smallest segment or unit in the society that has the father, the mother, the children and other blood–related persons living together in a defined area.

Going by this definition implies that, a lot of work is required to be put in so that everyone's overall growth would be enhanced. That is to say that the internal environment of the home, has to be conducive for everyone.

Esuring that the home is conducive, is a collective efforts that the father and the mother puts in to make the home admirable. It is not easy to achieve a completely perfect home, especially nowadays that responsibilities on the side of the parents, are increasing by everyday. Some of them go out early in the morning and come back late at night as a result of strugling to make ends meet to keep running the home. In this situation, the parents do not spend quality time with their children.

Some of the ways parents could spend quality time with their children may by the following:

• Asking them questions about their health

• Knowing how they spent their day in the school

• Guiding them to do their assignment in the school.

• Knowing What they would want to become in life?

• What are the subjects they are finding difficult or do not perform well?

• Teaching them how to carry out their home chores and do it well

Spending quality to look into the affairs of the children, makes them feel free to open up to discuss more about themselves. They will feel at home to discuss anything with their parents.

CREATING AN ENVIRONMENT TO FEEL LIKE HOME

As I captured in my introductory part of this article, creating an environment to feel at home requires the efforts of everyone. A lot of work has to be done or put in place to feel at home.

To create an environment to feel like home, there are measures that could be put in place. I list some of them as follows:

• Providing emotional support for everyone in the family or environment

• Creating and maintaining a good neighborhood relationships.

• Establish a reward system where anyone that performs exceptionally well in any given task in the home, is rewarded hansomely.

• Prohibiting anyone from bringing harmful or dangerous items into the neighborhood.

• Creating a fun-filled activities where every member of the family can easily playfuly interact with one another.

• Establishing a home teaching and learning programs for the members of the family

Finally and now in general terms, when peace, love, care and protection is seen to prevail in the environment and specifically in the family, these things will make the place feel like home.
