Foreword

It's been a great moment watching football teams put in their efforts for the 2022 FIFA World Cup trophy. Of course everyone wants to be a genius in this year's world cup tournament, and as a matter of fact, my favourite football team isn't left out in this desire either. Keep reading as I reveal to you my favourite team and player, as well as my expectations from them.

Do you like the World Cup? If so, which team is your favorite?

According to a recent statistic, which I read a few days ago, the World Cup is one of the most watched events worldwide. People, even those that do not have time to watch some of the popular leagues such as the Champions League, English Premier League, or even their own country's league matches world cup for one reason or another.

I personally belong to this group of people, and this is a very good backing for the statistics that label the World Cup game as the most viewed event. I simply love the FIFA World Cup to the core.
I don't just love it but also have my favourite football team, which I'm putting my hopes in to bring back home the trophy.

My favourite team in this World Cup tournament is the Ghana National Football Team (GNF). Like the popular saying goes, "If you can't beat them, join them," the Ghana team has been my favourite football team ever since they beat my country, Nigeria, and qualified for the World Cup.

The Black Stars, as they are fondly called, have such skilled players that I love their playing styles. I refused to let go of my hopes in them even though they were defeated in their first match by the Portuguese team, something I considered a narrow escape. Just like every football fan will say, "There's still hope."

My favourite player on this team

My best player on my favourite football team in this tournament is **Andre Ayew**. This guy wears the armband; he's not just the captain of this great team but proves that he's the greatest of all. I love his level of enthusiasm and how optimistic he can be while playing a match. He's always ready to sacrifice everything for his team to win. His clean score in their match against **Portugal** proved it all.

Will my team win the world cup or survive to what phase?

Well, as much as I know about football, the start does not really determine the outcome, but the final moment does. However, let the truth be told here. I'm very optimistic about my favourite team making it to the semi-finals. My hopes are slim, not to mention the finals, considering the fact that only two of the 26 players participating in the tournament have ever participated in a World Cup tournament. This has to be a major drawback.

Of course, there are some differences between the 2022 Qatar World Cup and the previous World Cup. It's unique in its kind.

Notable differences

Some of the notable changes in the Qatar World Cup are as follows:

• Change in hosting period✓

Unlike the previous World Cup tournaments, which were always held around June and July, the 2022 Qatar World Cup has been rescheduled to take place in November and December. The reason is to avoid Qatar's extreme summer heat.

• 5 subs in a game✓

It's been rescheduled by FIFA for this year's World Cup, and teams can carry out five substitutions in a game, meaning there's an expansion of the number of players per team up to 26 and not just 23.

Conclusion

Just like FIFA's goal for organising the World Cup, which is to touch and inspire the world through its organisation, ours isn't quite different either. It's time for the Ghana team and Africa in general to let the world know that Africans are awake from their slumber.
