Veggie Takeover!

VEGGIES

Veggies are vegetables like cabbage, carrot, potatoes, bay leaf, lettuce, green pea, pumpkin leaves, onions, pepper and so on. A person who eats mainly veggies is called a vegetarian. I would not say I am a vegetarian because because I don't eat veggies alone.


ADVANTAGES OF VEGGIES

Vegetables are very nutritious and healthy, it is good for body as it does the following:

  1. Veggies are essential for strong bones and improvement of normal blood clothing.
  2. It is not only fish, meat, egg, etc that are good source of portein but veggies like spinach, avocado, sweet corn are also good source of protein.
  3. Veggies can prevent us from contacting many diseases as it improves our immune system.
  4. Veggies like carrots, cucumber, etc can also improve our mental health.
  5. Veggies are just generally good for our body because they aid digestion, fights diseases, boost immunity, freshens the skin and improves good health.

MY VEGGIE DISH

My favourite veggie dish is fried rice😍. Fried rice is a meal that I make once in a week with veggies I can find in my nearby market. Most of the ingredients in fried rice are veggies and I love the meal so much. I learnt how to cook this meal from my mother and I used my mother's recipe in cooking my fried rice.

MY INGREDIENTS

I used just a few ingredients for my fried rice because it's not the season that I can get a lot of veggies around me. If I wanted to use more ingredients I would have to travel to a bigger market where I can find all kinds of veggies but since I could not, I used the once available in the small market in my area. What I could get for my veggie dish are;
✔Carrots
✔Green peapods
✔Onions
✔Cucumber
✔Fresh pepper.
I had other ingredients at home which are;
✔Rice
✔Dry pepper
✔Curry powder
✔Green spice
✔Maggi cubes
✔Groundnut oil
✔Salt.

MY VEGGIE RECIPE

Step one: I wash my carrot and cut them into little square shape.

Step two: I wash and cut my onions into three different shape: round shape, half-round and half-straight shape.

Step three: I wash and cut my green peapods into little shapes.

Step four: I wash and peel the back of my cucumber then slice them in round shapes.

Step five: I put my frying pan on fire and add a little groundnut oil. After five seconds I sprinkled half teaspoon of salt. I poured in the onions first and stir, carrots second and stir, green peapods third and stir, fresh pepper fourth and one cube of maggi last, stir together and my veggie sauce is ready.

MY RICE RECIPE TO USE AND EAT MY VEGGIE

Step one: I parboiled two cups rice, pour into a pot and add salt, dry pepper, three cubes of maggi, curry and green spice.

Step two: I allow the rice to boil till it's done and my rice is ready.

MY MEAL

I turn my veggie sauce into the rice and mix together and then use my sliced cucumber to decorate my meal and then I serve it.

In conclusion, the fried rice veggie sauce can be made with more veggies like sweet corn, bell paper, cabbage, spinach, etc. I couldn't add more veggies to my own sauce because of the distance from my place to the veggie market. I enjoyed my meal with my husband.
