INTRODUCTION

Environment is the surrounding where a person lives. It is the home, habitat, territory and place of abode of a person, plant or animal. Environment is not just the land, it is includes the water bodies and the atmosphere. The condition of my environment goes a long way to show how how my health will look like. A good and clean environment yields a good health while a bad and polluted environment yields good health.

ACTIVITIES I ENGAGE IN TO PROTECT MY ENVIRONMENT

1. Volunteer For Environmental Sanitation/Cleanup

This is the conscious cleaning of the environment. To protect my environment, I volunteer to clean my surroundings, surroundings including the water bodies like rivers and lakes. Tools like broom, rakes, thrash bags are used for the Cleanup. Thereafter, I trash it in the appropriate waste dump site and not into the water bodies which will also lead to another pollution called water pollution.

Earlier last month, I volunteered with a team to clean up the third mainland bridge

Another life-saving method of the ecosystem. When we plant trees, we are actually protecting our environment.

Why We Plant Trees?

•Planting trees reduces the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, because these trees trap in carbon dioxide as their nutrients through photosynthesis. Without trees the environment to be unbreathable and uninhabitable.
•Also through photosynthesis, trees give off oxygen as one of its by-products to the environment. They give off this oxygen which are basic for our respiration and general human survival.
•To give habitat to wildlife. Some animals are not domesticated, they live the forest.
•Trees helps to prevent erosion and flooding by holding the soil family at a place and as we know, erosion and flooding can lead to water and land pollution.
•Trees serve as shade to protect direct contact from the sunlight. Jave you ever been under a tree shade after working for so long under the Sun? it gives a cool atmosphere.

•Trees feed us. A fruit or seed cannot grow from nothing, it has to be from a tree or plant. When we plant trees, we invest in food production and with these we will always have food to eat.
•Trees serve as windbreakers to prevent heavy storm from causing disasters in an environment.
•Trees maintain and contribute to the water cycle and also it has been proven to help in controlling noise pollution
•Some plants are herbs to the body. Some modern drugs we use today were made from plants
•Planting trees is a means of income. It has been a very great help to agriculturist. Earlier years back, our fathers plant trees for the means of getting money. Whenever they harvest their crops, they sell 80% of the crops to get money to settle other needs. Even up to this age, people still make millions from farming. Although, farming has been improved, people no longer use crude implement like hoes and machetes. Mechanized farming is now invoke

Water conservation

Yes! Conserving water has a very huge way to protect your environment. We know that water is life so we should not misuse the availability of water

How can we achieve this

• Reducing the time we spend taken our bath in the shower. This might sound funny, but we us waste so much water when we take longer time na necessary in the shower.
•Quickly fix broken pipes and leakages
•Turn of taps when not in use
•Store clean water in gallons instead of pouring it away

Protecting our environment by limiting meat consumption

Our environment does not only include humans it also includes animals. We often overlook the need for the existence of this animals so we don't care to protect them. This wildlife also make up our environment and can solve for different purposes other than food. Such as

• Biological Pest Control. Knowing that the excessive use of pesticide can cause air and soil pollution, animals can be used to control pest and rodent attack in our houses and farms.
•Animal faeces/dungs are good soul fertilizer.

We should limit the consumption of animals to the best we can so they don't go into extension we can eat the product like their eggs and milk.

Protecting Your Environment by getting Immunized and Vaccinated

Being immunized and vaccinated is a two-way thing. First to protect yourself, secondly, to protect people around you.

Protecting our environment through education and enlightenment

Conclusion

What we do to our environment will either help us or destroy us. Imagine an environment without good breathable air, drinkable water and habitable land. On daily basis, we should try our best to maintain our Environmental health by regular sanitation, water conservation, limit the use of machines, limit consumption of meat and educate people on Environmental health
