Let's know the origin of the word meme

The technological advance alone has not had changes and constant evolution in the devices because, this modality is also reflected in the language we use when referring to certain things and to highlight one of them we have the terminology "Meme".

This word first emerged in the technological context in 1996 and since then, it is a very essential component to show an expression on the Internet. Now, deeply scrutinizing this term we can learn that, a meme really is something that goes beyond the funny photos that have gone viral in the world 2.0 and personally, the first time I heard that word it caused me a lot of laughter because, without having to see the image, the morphology that emerges from it is usually funny.

Although this word began to go viral in 1996 and after 2010 began its greatest boom, the real origin of it has absolutely nothing to do with the meaning we know today since, the Meme was coined for the first time in 1976 when a biologist named Richard Dawkins included it in the book of his authorship whose name is "The Selfish Gene". With this book, the biologist wanted to understand various behaviors of society which were not related to evolutionary theory.

It should be noted that, for Dawkins, a meme is the genetic system of a person and this is responsible for transmitting specific characteristics to descendants highlighting cultural information and assimilation and imitation. As we can understand, the origin of this famous word does not have much to do with the usefulness and meaning that we have currently coined it, however, the only correlation that can be credited is that, when we refer to a meme spread on the Internet, the behavior it adopts is a massive reproduction and replication, as with the genetic meme.

Initially when the Internet adopted the word Meme, the representatives of biology wanted to prevent it from being used in the digital context and because of this, they made the proposal to coin the final letter change; that is, instead of Meme, it would be Memo and although this only worked until 2003, with the arrival of the highest topic that had the mobile device of the BlackBerry brand, in 2012 the Meme terminology began to be massively virtual exploiting its popularity in 2013 with the high presence of users who were using the most popular social networks at that time.

To conclude, due to the boom that this word has always had and the great technological advance that is about to begin, the Metaverse project has made the decision to expand the use of this eloquent terminology since, they are developing several applications where it can be used from the biological and technological definition noting that, biological science accepted this on the condition that it create an NFT containing all biological species.
