Facts you need to know about the grain Maize (corn)

TGIS dear steemains i will be educating you guys on a short tutorial about the monocotyledon (maize).

A corn is one of the most important grains in the world and is rich in carbohydrates that is energy giving food and also water.

In Nigeria it is mainly cultivated in the Northern part and are been distributed to the other states owthside the north. The grain called corn is a monocotyledon [ one seed leaf ]. Corn are cultivated because of their fast and easy planting and havesting and also servers as a fast food when we humans get hungry.

I will like to justify my reason in facts and data for you to know that a Maze (corn) is a monocotyledon.

1. The process of pollination in monocotyledon is aid or made possible by wind while in dicotyledon it is made possible by the help of insects and other animals.

1. The flowers of monocotyledon are always/usually greenish in colour, inconspicuous and unscented. While in the case of dicotyledon, the flowers usually contains all manner of colours and sometimes scented.

2. The leave of monocotyledons has a veined leaf shape, narrow with a parallel vein which a corn also please has. While partaining to the dicotyledons, there lead is like a shape of a net and has a veined broad with petiole.

3. One seed leaf doesn't break into two half [ monocotyledon ]. While the in the dicotyledons two seed leave usually breaks naturally into two equal half..

4. The monocotyledon has one seed leaf while the dicotyledon have two seed leaves.

A MAIZE PLANTATION

1. The monocotyledons have a fibrous root system while the dicotyledon has a tap root and a lateral root system.

2. Monocotyledon has a vascular bundle system while the dicotyledon have a vascular bundle which are usually arranged in the form of ring in it's stem.

The maize falls under the crop classification which is based on they life cycle which is the Annual crop classification based on life cycle. This entails that it completes it's life cycle within a year this shows that they grow, mature, produce flowers, fruits seeds and eventually die in that same year.

The Maize has the total life span of 3 months in particular and dies immediately it completes it's life cycle.
