It is often said, "where there is life, there is Hope". The word "hope" originates from the ancient English word "hopa" which means "hope" or "expectation". The word "hope" since then have been used to symbolize optimism, positivity and resilience. Hope is an action word which can be described as wanting something to happen and having a sense of expectation that it might come to past.

Most of the time, I have an acronym for the word "HOPE" which stands for: Hold On Pain Ends, and I uses this each time I have been patently waiting for something.
The Dove is a symbol of Hope. This can be seen during the time of Noah when God cursed the earth to rain for forty days and night, the ark rested on the cliff of a mountain. Noah sents a dove out and after wondering for days, the Dove finally return with a branch of Olive in its mouth which symbolizes hope.

Types of Hope
The major types of hope include:

  1. Realistic hope: is a type of hope that focuses on a reasonable or probable outcome.
  2. Material hope: focuses on the sense of control over material things.
  3. Socratic hope: focuses on providing opportunity to questions in a society full of injustice.
  4. Existential hope: this type of hope is not tied to a specific outcome but rather, it focuses on the general hope that something good will happen.

Elements of hope:

Basically, for one to be hopeful about something, he/she needs to take the following key elements into cognizance:

  1. Hope is based on faith.
  2. Hope activates perseverance.
  3. Hope requires external perspective.
  4. Hope is based on God's promises.

I will round up with a little story about myself on "Hope". Earlier this year, I went bankrupt due to my school runs. I had nothing one me, not even my savings. I liquidated the little assets I had just to settle off some bills. It was really a tough moment because things went south for me. The month I was to write my first semester exams was same month my rent was expiring and I'm yet to clear my tuition fees. This was in the month of April this year.
In all this, I tried to be calm and not let my current situation determine my mood. I never lost faith in God because he promised me in His word that he will make a way where there seems to be no way. I'm expected to pay my tuition fee before I'll be allowed to even go close to the examination hall.
About 5 days to the exams, still no sign. I just knelt down and said a short prayer. I told God, that I'm giving Him way to take charge of my affairs and if it is His will that I will not sit for my first semester examination, then let his will be done. But I'm entrusting my faith and hope in him.
God is always faithful. I woke up the next day to two messages in my inbox. They were people I lend money to, some months ago. They requested for my account details to enable them repay the money they borrowed. Without any hesitation, I did as requested and in just a couple if minutes, I was credited even with more than what i gave out. I thought they made a mistake so I tried drawing their attention to that but the told me they added an extra token because I was a good man with a large heart. My Joy knew no bounds because I know I won't be missing my examination.

Indeed, my hope was built on God's promises, I had faith that things will surely fall in their right places and this activated my perseverance.

I'm inviting @owulama @ashley-p @vickyson to also participate in this contest.
