Sister's Homecoming Day!

Earlier I shared about My Siter's Wedding, filled with love and happiness. A few days later, we celebrated another special day: her homecoming. After their honeymoon at Ella, we decided to give a warm welcome to the newlyweds! We were relaxed on that day as it was organized from the Groom's side in their house.

It was arranged as a night function, so we were invited at 04.00 p.m. The function was in the brother's house of the groom, and it was nearby. So, it was not a big issue either.

In the morning Mother was busy preparing sweets, and gift items for them just as a custom. Just like the first day, We decided to keep the homecoming simple, with close family, friends, and a few neighbors. From our side, my sisters, brother, and a few elders from my father's side were invited.

First around 3 hours earlier the couple came to the salon to dress, and there was a photoshoot scheduled as well. I also accompanied them, to the location with the photographer. It's in front of the Katugahagalge lake with plenty of beautiful spots. My sister and brother-in-law, both looked lovely and happy. A moment we waited for so long.

Arrival and Welcome

After that, we went to the ceremony. The house itself was very beautiful and well-managed. With flowers, lights, balloons, and decor the place smelled the perfect ambiance. It was a moment of joy for all of us to see my sister stepping into the house with her husband. Her new mother-in-law welcomed them with love. She blessed them with advice for their life ahead.

First, as the custom, they lit the oil lamp. There was so much to share among the siblings. Then they invited me for tea. It was perfect with so many traditional sweat items. Kawum, kokis, cake, dodol, banana, etc. We tasted them after the happy couple.

There was a small rain outside, which increased the vibe that the hosts were planning.

Picture Time

Then we took the opportunity to take pictures. The official photographer did a fine job of that. The couple took some group photos with both families and friends. My sister’s husband blended so well with our family which was a real satisfaction to us.

As it was around 07.00 p.m. they had planned so many events. Anyway, with the rain it was a bit interrupted. A band was performed at the ceremony to entertain the crowd. They were really good under the circumstances. Until dinner, they continued to play while the guys had some alcohol. Well, at that climate it was the perfect vibe. 😅

The dinner was wonderful. The menu included some of our family favorites, traditional rice dishes, curries, etc. They had put a good effort in setting everything right.

So, after an amazing few hours, it was time to leave. My mother and I were very emotional as now sister is away from our home. The sadness is she is now located around 200km away. Anyway, now she has started a new adventure!

To my sister and her husband, may your journey ahead be filled with endless love, and blessings.

So, that's it for today!! Until the next time! Enjoy!

Thank you.
Best Regards!
