A day without the Internet! Well, that's an interesting one! The Internet has become so much essential part of our lives along with mobile/ laptop. Is it a bad thing? Well, Helloo! Now we are living in the 21st century!

The world has become globalized and we can connect anywhere with just one click. We can access unlimited knowledge resources in one second. We can transfer money to other corners of the world. So, life has become more advanced and easier with the internet. So, it's not the devil. But we should know how to manage and balance it.

So, what will happen if the internet goes down during your day?

  • Do you sleep the whole day if there were no Internet In your area?

Simply the answer is nope! The Internet is very important to us, but it's not the only thing that we need to survive. Sometimes, if the job depends on this we are screwed. But I can discuss this for sure. So, sleeping the whole day is not an option when so many things there are to be engaged in, especially when you are living in a village. Sometimes, I feel I am a bit addicted to Social media as well. So, this will be good to get rid of that too.

  • What activities do you engage in till it is restored?

One of my hobbies is gardening. Usually, when I am at home I take care of it and maintain it. So, I can spend more time on this. I have shared several times about our home garden, these days we are mainly focused on vegetables and other edible plants. This is good exercise after all.

I live in a beautiful village called Waguruwela. Well, I definitely go around the village in this kind of day. Most of my friends are now not in my hometown, anyway I prefer being on my own. Rivers, mountains, paddy fields, lakes, temples, jungles, and plantations. Plenty of bluish and greenish atmosphere. That breeze, sound, and scenery are so much better than what we experience from the concrete jungle in the town. So, this is always a treat for my eyes, ears, and of course for mind.

And most probably I will read something. You know, we have a collection of more than 150 books. I have this habit of reading from my childhood with my siblings. So, when we can afford it we buy books, with a plan of having a mini library of my own. So, I can read and flow in my own world.

And also, I can of course read Pdf books, I have a collection of English PDFs too. It's sometimes not good, but it's always unable to buy books, especially, the English versions.

I can listen to offline music or radio, be with the family, and help my mother with cooking. So, life will not be too hard, to live without the internet for a few days.

  • How often is that experienced in your area?

Well, to be honest, there is a very poor internet connection in my home. The reason is my house is situated in the middle of two connection towers. Neither of them covers around 100m diameter of the house. It's like a black spot. So, most of the day the connection is very poor. When there is an electricity cut or rain the situation becomes worse. Anyway in the village, there is not a big issue. The private broadband providers do a great job, as long as we pay the bill. 😁😁 Anyway the charges are a bit high.

  • If you were to solve such issues forever, what will you suggest?

Well, when I come to the university I realized how much I have lost due to not having proper access to rural areas. Now it has been fixed for some level, but not all around the island. So, if I am in that place, I will cover the whole country. And it's important to provide free access to schools and universities. (If it's necessary, we can limit the accessible level.) Anyhow, it's necessary to provide easy access to the internet for everyone. I told you the internet is not the devil. The things we can achieve from this are limitless. And I guess the best method to go will be fiber technology for my knowledge if it's possible. It's efficient, reliable, and speedy. And also, the maintenance and reaction to emergencies should be strengthened. It should make sure that all people have the same opportunity for this type of basic need.

So, that's it. Hope you will enjoy it. Thank you for the opportunity. I invite @patjewell, @prasadi, @sandu, and @imanthadd to the contest!

Until the next time! Enjoy!

Thank you.
Best Regards!

Hi @damithudaya

We've noticed that you delegated some of your SP to steem-sri.lanka and we decided to reach out to you. If you're looking for passive income then we would like to offer much higher weekly dividents comparing to what you receive right now.

While steem-sri.lanka pays you for your current delegation around 12-13 steem per week, we could offer for the same delegation to @project.hope as much as 20-21 steem weekly.
Quite a difference, isn't it?

If you find it interesting, then consider trying us out with some small delegation first (500SP - 1000 SP).
You can also find out more details about our curation program here.

Cheers :)
