Contest | 25-Word Comment - Monkey Business | No Cash - 6 Steem

Life without cash! Immediately I read about this week's contest, I quickly said to myself, God forbid lack, because I pictured it as lack, but as I thought more about it, I remembered the season of cashless policy in my country, "Nigeria".

This was a good idea but Nigeria's structure and Nigerians were not ready for such a change, since it was too sudden and the people were not enlightened. This singular act affected people adversely. This happened about last year and it was nicknamed cash crunch.

Bank Networks, which were also not updated to serve such services, became very frustrating and slow.

Although over the months, a bit of adaptation has taken place (both for the people and the systems) and that has supported the Cashless policy. I

Life without cash has its advantages and also its disadvantages.

Running a cashless policy can only work if everyone agrees to the cashless policy. In turn, this will encourage a life of convenience and speed where one could purchase goods and services with just a tap or swipe using technologize payments (bank transfers, ATM cards etc) to validate orders over bringing out wads of cash.

It also eases stress.

It can reduce the percentage of theft and help easily arrest such cases.

However, life without cash also has its cons, because not everyone has access to digital banking. People who use cash to run their business, such as those in rural or underbanked communities, will have to struggle with the no cash policy.

It will also reduce giving of cash or tips to some service providers, such as waiters and street performance.

The cashless policy in Nigeria is not what anyone wants to remember. Thank God there was a change, the evils that people encountered that period was a terrible one.

Nice job, thanks for the invitation.

How fast did they introduce it and change it again?

Thanks for the invite 💜

I think they're still going to do the cashless thing this December again.

And this current government might not provide anything to ease the stress of the people while they're switching fully to the new currency.

With new currency you mean the digital one?

Omo that season of cashless policy was "Madd Oh"! It was not funny at all. I remember going to a POS attendant to withdraw cash and she told me to withdraw 5k I will pay her 3k, imagine.

The way you said "God forbid lack" is what I tap o. Make God no gree we lack cash again o.

In our country Nigeria, running a cashless policy would be nice o but have you considered our internet (signals) which contributes to transaction errors? Our banks are not even helping matter too o. Our country needs saving.

@beevicsam yes it's true Nigeria is still developing and needs to put in a lot of work to have a cashless society.
The season of cash crunch was what we call suffering promax, I'm sorry you had to experience that.

Thank you my dear. Lets keep our hopes alive and believe that we will get better someday. That's if the world doesn't come to an end.

What if the system is meant for the rich and those living in cities only?

I tell you in the 30 years I have a card I can pay with I stood many times with my groceries and couldn't pay. Sometimes a blackout but in many cases slow machines/computers or issues with the result you are asked to pay cash or can leave without shoppings. It's not also the wifi also ussues with certain banks while others seem to work so you can run to a far away ATM and hope it's not empty and you are back in time before the shop closes.

In a world where we should save energy systems like these can't operate. Same for tje huge increasement of electric tools, equipment, cars and so on.

♥️🍀

For us to survive cashless we need good network connectivity. Only then can stay without cash.💜

I agree. Inyetesting next question will be: if that's the case will people start engaging out of need?

One thing I know for sure is that people will always find a way to solve challenges so definately there will be a way out.

Yes, they will even if it's a method you or society don't/doesn't like.
