It was a beautiful bright Tuesday morning. My baby woke up before me. She really can make trouble for Africa. She started by signing Morning nursery rhymes for me and she expected me to response but l was still sleeping and she started beating me for response. Hahahahaha!I got up singing only one song with her, she was super excited.
I woke up feeling agile, I decided to arrange our bedroom first before going out for other chores. Later l went to kitchen to get herbal tea that was prepared by my husband.
I really appreciate it because the weather was very cold and we survive with it. Immediately I dropped the cup; after taking, I hurried and prepare food for my girl, it was mixed dry cereal with bread and she enjoyed it so much. Thereafter, l prepared breakfast for my husband. I didn't join him at the table because of the herbal tea I took, I was to allow sometimes before I eat but engaging on other activities.
Am set to go.
Before l could realised, time has gone far, so I quickly prepared myself for a workshop. It was one day sensitisation workshop on the use of IDSR Tools for private practitioners. IDSR means: Integrated Disease Surveillance and Responses. My hubby was doing some architectural design at home, so decided to leave my daughter with him.
I took a Taxi down to the venue, it was a Conference Hall at Watbridge Hotel off IBB Avenue in Uyo. On my arrival, I encountered participants who are carrying out Registration and l joined the cue. I was so happy that I to arrived before the starting time.
On arrival
After the registration, everyone got their sit an enjoy the Frist two hours of the training. The state coordinator of WHO deeply explained all we needed to understand about integrated Disease surveillance and responses, Type, advantage, disadvantages, our role as private practitioners and the different IDSR priority Disease and reporting tools.
Let me give a brief on integrated Disease surveillance and responses (IDSR).
View of the meeting during break.
IDSR is a strategy that is adopted by WHO AFRO member states in September 1998 for the purpose of improving health surveillance and responses for priority disease, condition and event as community, health facilities, distinct and national levels in Africa countries.
IDSR have different forms in which Private practitioners should report any disease outbreak. There is a form for immediate cases, weekly case and monthly cases.
The main strategy of IDSR Tools is for collection, analysis, reporting, interpretation of disease occurrence and to take prompt actions.
Tea break
Eating with a friend
After the First two hours of intensive training 45 minutes break was given to all the participants to take lite meal and also communicate with others. I personally use the opportunity to share pleasantries with older members in our profession.
I also step outside and make a video call with my husband asking how he is coping alone with his work and our little princess and I was glad to hear that she is sleeping without disturbing. I appreciate him for his love and understanding.
Thereafter, l returned to my sit and enjoy the remaining sector of the training part which lasted for 2hour and 45minutes. This section was super interesting because we all carried out practical on the use of different IDSR tools.
At this point every one was tired, stressed up and exhausted. We were offered Lunch and take home care.I was extremely delighted to see different beautiful faces in this noble profession. I have learnt a lot from thier related experiences. My determination is to provide promotion, preventive, curative and rehabilitative health care services to people where I live and work.
The meeting was closed with few words of prayers and we decided to take some photographs with friends.
