Sharjah to the northeast and Oman to the southeast,Dubai shares borders with Abu Dhabi to the south. The Emirate has a small exclave called Hatta, which is surrounded on three sides by Oman and on one side by the Emirate of Ajman (to the west and Ras Al Khaimah (to the north).

Dubai is located directly in the Arabian desert. However, Dubai's topography is significantly different from the southern part of the UAE,Much of Dubai's landscape is characterized by sandy desert formations, while the kankar desert covers much of the southern part of the country.[9] The sand is clear and white, consisting mostly of crushed shale and fine coral. To the east of the city the saline coastal plains extend north-south into a line of dunes, known as the Salkha. Further east, the dunes are larger and red in color due to iron oxides.[10]The University of Fujairah is located in the city of Fujairah. There are several other universities in the city of Fujairah. Some other schools in the city are Dear Private Academy, Our Own English High School, Indian School Fujairah and St. Mary's Catholic High School.The population of Fujairat Emirate was 1,25,698 in the last census conducted in 2005. In 2016, it had a population of approximately 2,25,360;[2] only the Emirate of Umm Al Quwain has less. According to the latest estimates, its current population is estimated at 1,52,000.[3]
