Brief History Of Uyo:

Uyo is one of the biggest city in my country Nigeria, it's the capital of Akwa Ibom State the major oil producing state in Nigeria.
Uyo is one of the 31 Local Government Areas in Akwa Ibom which was created by the Federal Government of Nigeria.

Uyo existed since 1959 as a province and it was created by the colonial masters, the purpose of the creation was to split the Ibibio Nation into bits Administrative Unit for Good Governance. Well it's believe that the Ibibio people had their origin from Cameron, Uyo people Speak Ibibio Language and we have so many unique traditions and culture that makes us stand out.

The Culture Of Uyo People:

One of the things that makes Uyo unique is it culture, our dominant attire is the loincloth (unwang ofong isin) both men and women put on this dress.

We're blessed with numerous delicacies too, ranging from afang soup to afia efere, edikang ikong and ekpang nkukwo etc.

One of Uyo culture includes the ekpo (masquerade), the akinkoriko for boys and abang dance for young girls, just but few to mention.

Uyo is endowed with Mineral resources like sand, silica, timber, clay and agricultural produce like cassava, plantain corn and yam etc. Moreover there's large deposit amount of crude oil in Uyo, most people here are traders and farmers, some traders sells seafoods like smoke/fresh fish, periwinkle and crayfish.

Some Interesting Things About Uyo:

There are some industries for fabrication and Production of some farm tools and household utensils. Recently some indigenes have gone into transportation business, Uyo people are industrous, innovative, enterprising and adventurous in nature, they are focused and proactive.

They are highways and airport in Uyo City known as Ibom international airport.

Uyo is a fast growing city, a home of Ibom hotel and golf resort center, the biggest in West Africa, we have the international stadium here

The Ibom Tropicana Mall is located in Uyo too, it's one in a million!

And lastly, a museum!

Uyo is the most peaceful place any peaceful person can live it's a nice and clean area.
